Issues on deciding what to build, how to build it and making it good

Hello there, thanks for reading btw. Whenever I start a new project or idea, I’m always struggling on what to build, and when I even get a vague idea and try building it, it doesn’t look that good or near to what I imagined it to look like. If any builders have any ideas on how I can make good builds and also come up with good ideas for them, please do share!

im not the best at building either but i like to use lots of decals to add detail (usually slightly translucent) i also set my scale tool to a low number like 0.05, the building tools by f3x plugin is amazing since the scale applies to that individual face your scaling for every part selected instead of just making all the part bigger. id also use not just normal parts but also wedges, balls ext. Also going to the toolbox and getting a mesh pack works great too. Heres a link for Btools by f3x

set ideas for days
day 1: do a house
day 2: do just a car (no script)
day 3: do a building
day 4: do a decorated room
day 5: build a desk with a detailed computer
day 6: make a high detail chair
day 7: make a high detail desk

WHY?

because you can use these builds on other games you are making :P"

Thanks for the info. luckily I do use Btools, and I like your idea of using decals. However, mainly the issue for me is creating builds from sratch and actually working on them, for me it looks really bad after a while and I give up, especially when it comes to planning a build. Like take for example the build from this old blog,

I can’t imagine myself building like that at this moment. I feel like im lacking the creativity to build these cool worlds.

usually when i make a build that looks bad, instead of giving up i try to fix it, for example if i make a tree and it looks bad, i try to add onto it to make it look better, sometimes the small detail can do great things, i cant give many tips but listening to music motivates me to work

also, take your time, rushing builds could end up looking bad

thats true, but another thing is that when building should I worry about the amount of parts in a build for example like jailbreak or arsenal which have a lot of parts yet still maintain a well optimized game and decent-good builds. Do parts not have that much impact on preformance that I can just go crazy with building, is there a limit, or is it because the builds need to be well optimized, and if so how can they be well optimized if they are well detailed?

im pretty sure parts have 12 faces due to Roblox using triangle faces instead of square faces, adding a lot of parts shouldn’t be bad for the game, as most optimized blender models could have 100

Hey, I did infact find something (FINALLY) while searching for some answers. I will try to put this to use!
