Issues with scaling when importing Blender model into Studio

  • What are you attempting to achieve? (Keep it simple and clear)

Fix unwanted scaling on model’s doors and windows when importing

  • What is the issue? (Keep it simple and clear - Include screenshots/videos/GIFs if
    possible)

Hi! I’ve been working on a model in blender (picture below), but when I import it into studio, the doors and windows have some issues with scaling (picture below).

  • What solutions have you tried so far? (Have you searched for solutions through the Roblox Wiki yet?)

When I join the doors as one object (and windows as another) and then export and import it, it scales correctly; however, as I think I’ll need the doors to move separately, I don’t think having them joined would be a good idea. I’m new to studio and modeling, so if you know if it will cause any problems or not, please let me know.

After importing, if I set the doors/windows Y and Z sizes to 1, it fixes itself, but that messes up the selection box thingy (I don’t know the name for it; picture below), and I don’t know if that will cause any problems later on. Again, let me know if you know if that will be problematic or not.

  • You may then include any further details.

I am exporting it as listed in the export requirements (although I’ve kept the Scene Unit Length at meters rather than centimeters as it makes no difference when importing, and I have kept Unit Scale at 1 as Studio throws an error [below] when I try to import it if it’s at 0.1), so that isn’t the problem.

(Blurred because I don’t know if I should show it or not. It gives one of these errors for every single mesh in the model.)

so, when you scale the whole object, the door and the window scale up at a far faster rate?

Perhaps you can import each object (as in the car itself) and the window/door individually and then try and mend them back together in studio

No. I import the model and scale nothing, but Studio automatically scales the doors and windows like that for some reason.

I’ll try this and get back to you, thanks for the suggestion.

Oh right understood, yeah maybe my suggestion of doing it individually helps, however if it does not, can you not just scale the windows and doors after you have imported them to what is correct (eye-balling it should be fine, trust me, alot of eye balling exists in even really popular roblox games).

If you can’t scale it indiviudally, could you give me a screen shot (either here) or in my DMs of how does your export menu look like in blender?

Your door and window are not solid parts, they are planes. make their width larger and youll be able to scale it down.

Thanks, I did that and it doesn’t have the scaling problem anymore.
