Often I have a place file open in Studio and want to open the corresponding game’s page in my browser. Unless I have the page bookmarked or in recent history, I will have to find the page from scratch using the creator hub which feels very high friction.
Studio does have a “share” feature which helps with this issue by providing a link, but it only works with experiences which are public. If I have a place file open in which belongs to an experience which is private, I am unable to get a link to the experience which I can open in my browser. Instead, I get the following unhelpful message:
It would be nice if we could have a quick and simple way to always get a link to the game’s webpage or open it in the default browser.
Yes, you can “just” do that, but it wastes time when there’s not much reason for Studio to hide the link from you. The point of the feature request is to request a change to this to make it quicker.
yes but there is literally no reason to share a game if it’s private. since running on studio and game are different, they can make it so you can open the game like how you normally would when playing a game through a button.
OP’s feature is great, but personally i don’t think there’s much of a reason for it other than just testing the game without studio playtesting.
Yep, but we shouldn’t need to do this. The link sharing feature already exists.
That’s an important one, especially if you need to test on other platforms like mobile where it’s difficult to access the place via other means. (e.g. to test on mobile, you gotta send the link to yourself and open it on your device, or play the game on PC first to put it into your “recently played” category)
