I’m trying to create a sign that swings when hit like any other sign in the real world. In other words, I want a hanging sign with physics…
I attached the sign to the pole with 2 rope constraints, and all was well aside from the jitters.
I’ve also tried changing the length of the ropes, and their restitution’s.
In the video the restitution of the ropes are different, but I’ve already tried using the same restitution (0-0; 1-1).
I’ve linked 2 videos… the first shows the physical look of the jitters, and the second is showing the configurations of the each attachment and rope constraint.
What I meant was that the length of each rope is the same as the distance between it’s attachments.
Even fixing my mistake in words, an changing the lengths to be the same, I still have the same jitters.
Hello! Okay, I copied your design (not really similar to yours) and tried to find the problem. I’ve experimented the length of both ropes in respect to each restitution, and got the same problem. The next thing I do is changed the length of the sign itself (part), and got a result different from before. My conclusion is that the length of the rope should depend on how heavy the object is. Meaning if its longer and wider, it will have more mass, hence, you need to change the length of the rope. To achieve good result, experiment the size of your sign and the length of your rope. I hope this thing solves your problem. :]
