Judge Tools // A way to super-charge your workflow

very interesting plugin its a cool idea but has a few flaws

btw ill be talking about environment judge

The first thing is I feel like there should be different categories since something aren’t good for most maps such as height variation
height variation is good for fps game but I’m currently making a 2d platformer and having a lot of height variation isn’t the best. just like how it says I should have multiple spawns which wouldn’t be good for a platformer LOL

another thing is some of the tips are kind of weird why should I have some un anchored parts? why shouldn’t all parts have collision wouldn’t that just be annoying? I get having less than 26 textures in a more cartoony build is bad but its such a specific number and more realistic builds benefit from a lot of variation in textures

anyways its a cool idea but I feel like the user should be able to either pick what style there building in or what kind of game there making

also just a question the environment judge is for the gameplay of the map not how it looks right?

I feel like if you could “direct” it on what you’re trying to do it would be great, as you said, for example it could have different “modes”, like 2D Platformer, FPS etc.

I honestly would prefer the old UI. It’s a lot smaller, but still readable. The new one is big and the icons seems out of place.

They both look good in my opinion, probably an option for changing the style would be good

Also, you can now post paid Resources in #resources:community-resources

I’m unsure, but stay tuned! My schedule is quite busy and I only work on this in my free time.

In this case, it’s best just to ignore the judge’s ratings. Verticality is essential in 99% of 3D games since it improves the environment and/or gameplay.

Having unanchored parts is bad on performance, same for collisions. Only make objects collidable when they need to be.

It’s better to use material service with custom materials as they will be baked into your game, not procedurally loaded.

As of now, only kind of. In the future it’s looking to be more balanced.

The new UI is considerably better since it’s less invasive, more readable, and more user-friendly. Even though it still lacks in those three areas, it definitely was an improvement. Not to worry though, another update to the UI will release soon!

Is there a full list of checks/features that each Judge has or will contain?

At the moment there is no public list since I would like to finish those lists first.

Love this plugin! One comment - It flagged a fully transparent option for being an untinted grey. Other than that, this plugin is definitely worth it!

:+1:

i ran out of likes, the plugin should have a bug report menu to report plugin bugs

This plugin is quite nice. I don’t really need it but it really does help when im desigining UI. I cannot wait for the code judge feature, as thats what i mainly do. Great price aswell.
