I am making an “anti-piracy”/anti-copying concept for my game, and I’m just wondering if I am allowed to say this or if anything said in my message is against the rules:
You are playing a copied version of RainbowPink_2’s game. Copying, distributing, or otherwise reuploading this game without permission of RainbowPink_2 is piracy, and illegal and the copier of the game could pay up to 250,000$ in fines, or go to prison for up to five years. I am not a lawyer, but if you are just a player and not the copier, I’m pretty sure you are fine. Just please play my original game and not the copy you tried to play. (It’s currently called “_____ (Alpha)”.)
I’m an idiot. I’m sorry, I replied previously saying they probably could but I am a bit tired and realized they literally couldn’t.
The anti-copying measure I have in mind is that they literally teleport to a game that has the anti-copying stuff, so unless the manually edit my own game, they couldn’t. I realize in hindsight this is probably inconvenient, as I could just teleport them to the original game, but I already made the anti-copying place thingy. ;~;
You shouldn’t threaten people when you do not have proper IP rights over your assets; from what I understand, you do not have a company of any sorts in which you can register your assets under. If you want legal protection, then that is what you should do.
You are playing a copied version of RainbowPink_2’s game. Please play my original game instead copy you tried to play. The original game is currently called “_____ (Alpha)”, but it’s name may change. (If you had tried to play the original game and it teleported you here, please contact me and I’ll fix it right away.)
Sure, but you have to realize that exploiters can only copy all the information available to them on the client - that means, they do not have access to your server scripts. In fact, even the local scripts they dig out from your game’s code would be barely functional; it wouldn’t look much like your original code anyway. It’s needless to add this note because the exploiters can just remove the teleport code.
You don’t need a company to have Intellectual Property rights over your own assets. People set up LLCs to limit liability, not to have copyright. Personally, I wouldn’t threaten anyone with fines unless I have a trustable source to quote.
I know, I was going to mention this but I’m no legal expert. From what I’m aware, it’s still best to set up companies to easier manage the legal side of things in regards to your assets and the like; but other than that yeah, you can still sue someone for using your assets without your given permission (though, the process would be more tedious).
