Just a quick question: Why can’t I upload any Kevin Macleod songs to Roblox? I know his music got purged cause of the audio update but his stuff is Creative Commons… So why is it blocked? Thanks.

I think, roblox won’t allow users to upload audio as they removed the audios before
Not really sure, I was trying to upload TF2 ones but it got blocked.
yeah but there’s some music that should still be allowed since literally all music was removed prior so I don’t think that’s the case

Kevin Macleod songs are copyrighted, despite it being used too many times on youtube and never got copyright striked
and roblox disabled uploading copyrighted songs to avoid the lawsuit
They’re still Creative Commons, which falls under fair-use as long as the music is credited.

It doesn’t matter if you credited music, roblox still won’t let you use it
I know, it’s just stupid that this is the case in the first place.

Sometimes the song is royalty-free, but it does not have the right to be distributed to other platforms without authorization.
YouTube probably bought a license to use on the audio library there, or maybe it isn’t copyrighted.

I mean, with the absolute cult-like usage of his music on Roblox prior to the audio purge especially in popular games I’d think he would take action prior if he really cared

This is rather stupid in my opinion because his music is free to use as long as you credit it, and the FAQ on his website says so clearly!

That’s what I was saying. Apparently Roblox only allows stuff that’s completely uncopyrighted and free to use without credit.

Roblox really don’t want us to use music made by the guy who basically composed the internet itself.
This just frustrates me, I would of really liked to use one of his songs in one of my games.

its probably because its popular on YouTube and also creative commons means anyone can use it anyway they want so they can sue you for using their audio and demand ransom. there was a incident when Getty images did that with a woman who uploaded her photos to the congressional library and Getty sued her demanding payment because Getty could do whatever they want with that image. If an audio company as greedy as Getty sued roblox for that music then it would be ugly.
