Greetings.
I am creating a serene game set in a fictional national park forest, featuring a simple and classic build yet impressive terrains (in the work) and scenery. It’s nothing special, really, just a simple game that I want to feature on my profile to showcase a calming state of mind place.
However, I find the terrain editor to be lacking proper contour lines when I’m busy terraforming the land. It’s hard not to get disoriented or confused about how steep a terrain is, or how high or low… How many degrees a ground slope can be so I could possibly make a realistic pathway or even a river…
I might be the only person who had this issue in mind, but years of studying geography and architectural graphics in real life just screws my mind with it. Other games (not Roblox) that involved terraforming, like Cities Skylines, also had contour lines and I find it super helpful. I would love to know if people ever thought about it and how they get around with it. Is there a plugin? Or do people just ignore it?
For obvious reasons, this isn’t a big issue. Just a small minor thing that I spot while terraforming the map I am working on, and I can just ignore it (like anybody else would). I could also use the Fill box to see the shape of the terrains, but it only shows by polygons, and not terrain heights.
This was never mentioned before, so I thought of talking about it. Contour lines would’ve really helped me, especially when complex terraforming. Pictures below are work in progress. Fire watchtower is handcrafted, based on a freemodel. Feel free to give feedbacks.
