Hi everyone! It’s been a while since the last progress report, so I thought I could make one here to reflect on some recent work.
The game’s internals have been going through another huge change. Most of the changes made are being done to prepare for the race system in-game. A lot of the character design code has been a huge focus and so far the versatility of the customization system has proven itself to be more than adequate for what I hope to do in the game so far.
One of the things I do want to mention as a sort of bonus for you all is the first candidate for the list of playable character races!
The playable races for Candidate List #1 (I’m constructing different lists as development continues. Note that list #1 is not the current list, so this info isn’t up to date. This is intentional, of course) include:
- Human
- Half-Dragon / Half-Gryphon (Full creature races are not being covered in this list)
- Skaser (A sort of cat-like + insect-like hybrid thing. This is your sort of rogue/assassin race)
- Murlok (This is your tanky sort of race, the warrior-kind.)
- Dustrat (This is the crafty race, the intuitive sort.)
Note: This list isn’t complete. There’s going to be more races to this, and as stated this list is outdated on purpose. There is one question that I can assume will be present and it’s how mechanics for various strengths and weaknesses are handled. That’s something I want to keep more internal for now. However, as for capabilities like flight, I already have that handled for all races, so you won’t need to worry about that.
I do ask that any users hold off with questioning the exact details, as I will not be giving them until a later time.
