Language Preference Ignored, Roblox Forces Location-Based Translation

Description:

For the past few days, I have been experiencing an issue where Roblox seems to prioritize location-based language settings instead of my chosen preferences.

In both the website account settings and in-game interface settings (assuming Roblox only allows us to change our language from these two places), I have my language set to English:

However, despite these settings, the game interface is still displayed in Turkish, most likely because my account location is Turkey and I currently reside there.

Expected Behavior:

The interface language should always follow the user’s explicit language selection in account and in-game settings, regardless of account location or IP address.

This is frustrating because I would much rather have the interface in English, even though my native language is Turkish. English is more clear for me and avoids translation errors.

Please fix this so that user-selected language preferences always take priority over location-based automatic translation.

Hi, sorry for the inconvenience! We are looking into the issue.

Hello @raskolibov, sorry you’re having this issue. Can you try something for me?

  1. I see that you updated your language setting on the Roblox website. Could you try opening the Roblox desktop app from the web browser – that is, for example, go to Roblox website at www.roblox.com, find a game, and click play. Depending on your browser settings, it may immediately open the Roblox desktop app or ask for your permission to do so. Could you try this out if you haven’t, and see if the desktop app language setting follows the web language setting?
  2. Could you also try updating the language setting in the desktop app itself? Inside the app, go to “More” on the left bar → “Settings” → “Accout info” → update “Language”. Could you try and see if the language of the in-game interface is updated accordingly?

This will help rule out some possibilities. Thank you!

Hey, sorry for the late reply! My university just started so I’ve been busy with that :winking_face_with_tongue:

But the bug seems to be fixed for me now. I don’t know if you guys changed something or not, but the interface is finally in the language I selected (English) :folded_hands:
