Layered clothing messed up on custom avatar's body

  1. What do you want to achieve? Keep it simple and clear!

during the process of creating the cage mesh for an avatar I want to be able to mirror it to the other side of the avatar so that it is easier to adjust it.

  1. What is the issue? Include screenshots / videos if possible!

When I Export the avatar into studio and test it with layered clothing The mirrored side, the right side is all jagged and warped, this makes it clear that there is something wrong with the cage mesh and I have had this problem before but the only way of fixing it was redoing everything without symmetry tools.

  1. What solutions have you tried so far? Did you look for solutions on the Developer Hub?

I have tried applying all transforms in blender, I have flipped the normals manually, and the auto calculate the normals, I have done mirror modifier, duplicating it and flipping it, just about everything I can think of but as soon as I put it into studio with fresh new cage mesh on the right side it only shows that side as broken when wearing clothing.

Hello see if this video helps!

The issue with that is that it is the clothing, and it works for that because they are working around in one solid piece, for an avatar the cage mesh is in the 15 different cage mesh pieces for each part of an avatar, so the x symmetry tool doesn’t work for 2 separate meshes

What I found to work for this was to redo the cage mesh, When I did originally I mirrored the left cage over to the right with the modifier and something didn’t like that, my new method is to take the cage and join the opposite sides together then mirror sculpt it how I need it, seperate it and then copy the UV data from the original unaltered cage mesh to fix any UV issues that show up in the studio check,
