The recent Roblox Studio update on April 27, 2023 PST added these new Layered Clothing quality checks to the automated upload validation:
- Validate overlapping vertices for cages
- Validate mismatched UV between inner and outer cage
- Validate inner/outer cage mesh intersection with the clothing mesh
- Validate cage mesh for irrelevant cage modification, cage far extended and large distance
between cage and mesh - Validate cage manifold
- Hole detection
- Validate full body Cage Deletion
Due to the extreme strictness of these quality checks, it is currently impossible for all UGC creators to upload any Layered Clothing items on the avatar marketplace right now. This can be observed as there have been no Layered Clothing items uploaded to the marketplace as of the last 3-4 days. Note that validly-made items still get flagged by the quality checks; even Roblox’s own official example file on their LC documentation page does not get approved in the validation.
Additionally, this update restricts the creation of Layered Clothing curated to specific avatars such as 1.0/3.0 bodies, curbing the growth of the highly-demanded market with over 1,120 items (YourLocal3DModeller). Many of these items are all-time best-sellers and they cannot be made anymore.
Reproduction steps
Roblox’s official example file on the documentation page will be used as an example.
Tshirt-caged.fbx (522.4 KB)
-
Import the .fbx file using the 3D Importer.
-
Convert it to a T-Shirt using the Accessory Fitting Tool.
-
Save to Roblox as a T-Shirt Accessory.
-
The new quality checks should prevent you from uploading the T-Shirt. This problem arises when uploading any type of Layered Clothing asset.
Expected behavior
Prior to the update, all validly-made Layered Clothing and all Layered Clothing curated to specific avatars such as 1.0/3.0 bodies would have been approved after step 4, the validation step.
