Let's talk about "Find the .." games

it’s funny because players mostly love cartoon buildings and guis, that’s one of the main reasons why they play the game. If you want to see what the Simpsons city looks like you do a search google with 3 words and you have your answer. Thanks for your congrats

I have to take back everything I said right now. I just rejoined the game and looked more closely, your images and building are actually way above standard, and are made to look cartoony. I get it now, and I understand why this game is so successful, I apologize for any inconvenience.

I generally think it’s about creating an easter egg game as it involves about finding whatever you see, i used to play those but it’s now plain too simple as there isn’t anything new these day.

I agree. I think Find The Simpsons was a fun and exciting twist to the genre, and now it’s going to be a struggle to top it.

I don’t think so because the game shows some mechanics that attract players (double jump with some animations, game generally easy to finish, even if it takes time, both experienced and new players can finish the game, and realistic morphs, a very optimized game that does not lag), in fact the developers will be able to draw inspiration from it. Besides, I’m not a very experienced developer and it’s a miracle for me that the game has achieved such success. Unfortunately the scavenger hunt games have a very low lifespan and in a few weeks the game will die. However thank you for your nice comments on this subject, I appreciate it, and I wish you good luck with your projects

This reply is completely irrelevant as there have been many comments from Temateite (above) and we’re clearly talking about Find The Simpsons.

First of all, this post belongs on #help-and-feedback:game-design-support.

About the game concept itself… I mean… can it attain success? Sure. Would anybody over the age of 10 find entertainment value out of it? Depends. “Treasure hunt games” by itself is so generic… you can create a lot of diversity with this in mind. It is up to you to make it cool or not.

What does a player do after finding them all?

I may be wrong, but I do not think anybody looks at a game and will just be happy because badges. You can not use them if you want, or include very few and just put them in milestones.

I’ll change it (hopefully nobody flags it)

The way these games work is to make some that take a very long time to obtain, for users who are completionists. For the few users who take many many days or weeks to earn these, there will be an option to reset your game. Plus, new hidden characters are added often, to help keep players coming back.

I plan to do milestones (ex. 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25) etc.

That should be lighter on your wallet.

What I can really recommend is making entire quests and such, or making whole puzzles hiding some. If you think about it, these games would pretty much work like an “Escape Room” game. There are a bunch on Roblox. But not as many are as good as this one. It is up to you to make such a game really valuable.

Even if I have beaten a level once, I find it fun to revisit once in a while.

Just for tips, what are some unique features/ideas you would like to see inserted in a game like this?

Well, as I mentioned, puzzles would be hella cool. More than just exploration, trying to find clues and stuff is great, especially if you do not have just a single location for a single object you gotta find. Imagine opening a door through a code encrypted in morse code that you would find in a game instance, for example.

Aside from these, I might as well mention there are a lot of generic games on the platform, such as guessing games. They could be spicier, wouldn’t you say? What if there was some sort of race mode, for instance? Players would be teleported to a random map and would have to find a button faster than the other.

Yes, I would.

As seen in Find The Simpsons, there are certain morphs for certain doors, there are keys you have to find, obbies to beat, etc. The game is aimed more towards ~10-13 age and I don’t want to do too many puzzles that require actual IQ (some Roblox players just don’t have comprehension skills,) but I also think there is a large audience who loves a challenge, and they need to be satisfied. Thanks for your tips

It’s not loosing them a lot of money (they’re owned by “changed copyright laws to keep their mascot” Disney here, it’s not a tiny company by any stretch of the imagination), and to the general public your game looks like an indie developer’s game, so they just don’t bother acting becuase it’s a complete waste of time and makes them look like bullies, if you DO start to grow a lot expect them to take action though just be warned

I made a Find the game back in 2019 and it got popular earlier this year, I’ve made a couple million robux off of it in only like 6 months, with only 400 players average, you gotta update the game very often though, I learned the hard way. Personally, Find the games are hard for me and take very long to make updates for (1 - 2 months), but that’s just me, it always takes me 2x slower than the average developer for some reason.

Awesome to hear! I’ve been working on a find the game since the release of this post. It should be ready this Saturday (hopefully I can be as successful as you  )

The framework for my game makes it extremely easy to update and create new characters for updates, so I should be set!

Hello, I am owner of another “Find the” game with almost 1.5M+ visits Find the KPOP. Here is advice/suggestions for you, the theme is significant which I mean is Find the “theme”, for example; “Find the Simpsons”, “Find the Anime”, Find the “KPOP”. In conclusion, try some trending/popular themes.

I’ll be sure to look for trending themes and keywords in the future!

As @CheeseNPizza and @Temateite have said, you can make a lot of Robux in a short time but if you use a Copyrighted image or name it can get DMCA’d.
I had a place that used the name ‘suspension test and formula one cars’, and it got shut down after a few months…
Apparently it triggered something with somebody somewhere.
There were no copyrighted images or items in the game, just the name in the title. The F1 models I made in the game were entirely mine. The other issue I noticed was after it got shut down I searched Roblox for games (and models) that had Formula 1 or Formula One in the title and was amazed by the number of them out there.

Hi!
I made a game called “Find The Doggos” and it did do pretty well with getting 10M+ visits, but the problem is that it requires SO MUCH WORK.

I did weekly updates for 7 months just to get players to come back. I stopped updating for a while which made the game get not a lot of players. A big issue with this trend is the community. It’s super toxic and can lead to people quit updating their find the game because of the hate and negativity. Do it to get experience from it, but do not do it for robux. I made about 2 million robux, all from premium payouts.

Honestly, its really hard to get big success, I just updated the game weekly and it got popular, then it died. Most top find the games will be dead in a couple of months. If you want to make one do it, but don’t do it just to make money. (also i didnt advertise at all)

Also if you don’t know what Find The Doggos is, search it up. Some popular youtubers have played it.

How did you go about getting players in your game? Or were you just extremely lucky? I created a “Find The” game (Find The Jellybeans[55] - Roblox) and I’m not sure what the best way to get some players in the game. What is your story of growth for Find The Doggos? Let me know.
