Hi everyone,
I’m a Roblox developer working on a game called Rampage, and I recently had an audio asset removed due to automatic copyright detection, despite having full permission and licensing rights from the original creator.
The track is “Arcade Adventures” by DemonGetter, uploaded to Newgrounds. I personally contacted the artist and received explicit written permission to use this in my Roblox game, including terms of credit.
To support this, I submitted the following to Roblox Appeals:
- Screenshots of our chat confirming permission
- Link to the original published audio
- A written statement by the artist
- Explanation of how the audio was used in-game
Despite this, I received the usual final response template:
“We’re unable to provide further information or response regarding this inquiry.”
I also asked the original creator to upload the audio themselves, but it was still automatically taken down. It seems like the current moderation system does not allow any exceptions, even for developers acting in full compliance.
What I’m Asking:
- Is there currently any process or contact for verifying proof of license or permission to restore audio?
- Is there a roadmap for allowing legal audio with documentation to be uploaded?
- Has anyone in the community successfully handled something like this?
I fully support Roblox’s effort to protect IP rights, but it’s extremely discouraging when developers who go through the proper channels are treated the same as those who upload music without permisions.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can advise or provide clarity or read though this.
