Thank you very much, I had the same issue but this fixed it!
Go to lighting and change the ‘Technology’ to “Future”.
Late reply, but if you have your Graphics Mode set to OpenGL then you can’t see lighting effects. If you have it on OpenGL, try setting it to Automatic.
I second this, I know its a necropost but mine was on compatability, I put it to future and it worked.
