Limited Time Gamepasses

Am I allowed to have a “Limited Time” Gamepass that goes off-sale after a time period and removes the item from game?

I am thinking of a fireworks gamepass that would go on sale soon and off-sale after the fourth of july, but it would take the fireworks out of the players inventory after so long. Is this allowed?

As long as you stated that I don’t see why it wouldn’t be allowed.

I appreciate it. I just didn’t want the game to be taken down for scamming, so I decided to get some advice.

That’s kinda like a scam, because you bought something and now its poof gone. I’m not sure if its allowed. I guess it might be, I would put the limited time thing in detail in all caps in the gamepass description. It might be allowed and might not, I’m not 100% sure, 50/50 I guess.

I don’t think that’s allowed unless it’s clearly made known to all the players who buy it. I’d recommend making it a low price but I’m not too sure. I’d take it off sale but keep it in the player’s inventory like a limited item that’s super rare or something like that. But as long as it’s made clear then I think it’s safe.

Just make it clear that it is limited time only, if anyone reports you for allegedly “Scamming them” then you would have stated that it was made clear in the description of the gamepass in uppercase letters that it is limited time only.

Just use a devproduct instead.

My opinion, don’t.

It’s extremely discouraged and there will be a lot of stigma and criticism based on your game even if you explicitly say that it’s for temporary use.

Try making it a limited dev product/gamepass but remove the gamepass itself after the time period, let them keep the item in their inventory.

I think for a case like this. You shouldn’t make it an official gamepass in the store(in the game description) and instead only when people click on the Store Ui in your game and you can then sell them the gamepass but you have to make your own UI for the gamepass.

Nope. Limited Time deals and items are common both on and off Roblox, I don’t see a reason why this would be a scam. If you take it off sale, it doesn’t “unown” it. You still own it and it will still work in a game.

Why?

My opinion is this: Yes, it’s allowed, but you have to deploy it correctly. Make sure you make it known that it’s limited, and don’t DELETE it, make it OFF-SALE.

Because you can make the fireworks a devproduct, so the players will get the devproduct each time they want to launch a firework, kinda like the nukes in Jailbreak if you’ve see them. That way once the event is over you just remove the devproduct and nobody will feel scammed/be confused since it is only one time use and you have to repurchase each time anyway.

He’s not only planning to remove the gamepass (taking it off-sale), he’s removing the benefits they get from it in-game. So the gamepass actually won’t still work in the game cause he removed the benefits from it. So in a way, they’re purchasing the gamepass to have the benefits from it for only a few days, then everything’s gone.

Then yea, that’s a scam.

@Milmentous That would be against Roblox TOS.

I might be wrong when I write this but.

I don’t think that Limited Time Gamepasses would be allowed, though maybe if it’s a seasonal perk maybe? Somebody can correct me about this if I happen to be wrong.

Let’s say for example:

2020-10-16T04:00:00Z2020-11-01T04:00:00Z

2021-10-16T04:00:00Z2021-11-01T04:00:00Z

Maybe during these days around The Holiday: Halloween, Each year you can use the perks that the gamepass gives meaning that the gamepass could be that you are only able to use perks in that few days each year but then another year comes around again, it’s the same days.

Again I’ll recap possibly saying that like others also said above:
It would be a scam cause you wouldn’t get refunded the robux you used on that gamepass only for a few days each year but you don’t get to use it every day you play the game. Overall I’m not quite sure though yes, it might be a scam.

You can make the limited time seasonal gamepass, but I wouldn’t have the game remove the item from the player’s inventory. That in of itself is pretty scummy, seeing as you paid for the fireworks only to get them removed. Why would you do that anyway? Just let them keep it.

The best in this case is simple, use a DevProduct.

You can do this, but you MUST state that it would be gone.
