My servers have been constantly crashing recently without even reaching the 6 GB RAM limit. If this is related to a RAM increase update experiment, please address the issue. The servers typically use around 4 to 5 GB of RAM before crashing, and when you try to join, it says ‘restricted access.’ Additionally, the server disappears from the server list entirely. My memory tools haven’t indicated anything unusual, and my servers used to last for three days or more. I’ve been continuously monitoring for potential causes, but I can’t figure out the issue as it seems beyond my control, This bug is also affecting my player count numbers so its critical i get an answer asap.
Are you 100% absolutely positive it’s crashing due to memory issues? I’d recommend using the new BindToClose API property (if you haven’t already done) which includes the reasoning the server is shutting down. It’s very possible it could be shutting down due to memory issues but it could also be another reasoning.
As soon as I got back home, I tried to join a server, but it suddenly said, ‘This experience is restricted.’ When I reloaded the server list, the server was completely erased from it. Nothing was logged when it shut down, which means BindToClose didn’t even trigger.
I need a response asap.
Edit: I noticed a Roblox staff member joined my game a couple of days ago and left, which I assume happened since I posted this. However, I still haven’t received a response. Could you at least confirm if you’re working on this issue or provide any updates?
Edit 2: It seems the server that was erased lasted only one day and had 5k memory, which wasn’t even on the standard memory limit. I came back after around 30 minutes, and the server was erased without even triggering bindtoclose. This is absurd—servers crash mysteriously, giving everyone the reconnect message without any notification log to me.
If it isn’t RAM usage, then it’s probably CPU usage, which also has a reset watchdog. You will want to monitor CPU usage to see if it is stuck at max for an extended period of time.
It would be on the server. Currently (unless things have changed since years back), there is no way to do this by default in Roblox. I had to create my own for this very reason during early development of my game. You could write out a simple server log using this to see if it is maxed out before it disappears, at least it would be one less thing to narrow down for the staff too.
I’m not really sure about this server’s CPU. There are limitations to constantly monitoring it while I’m not there. I would like a response from the Roblox staff on this.
Edit: it just seems like my game’s servers randomly crash without notice even tho they just started an hour ago without reaching any memory limits, I really hope staff gives an answer when they’re ready.
Edit 2: I’m investigating a custom debris system im using, even tho it shows no memory leakage it could be due to overload or heavy load on it which causes the server to crash regardless, if you do have any information feel free to share.
Edit: 3: Nope, even after removing the custom debris system with using the default debris, it still crashes as described.
Please anyone could respond to my urgent issue with servers crashing mysteriously, i tried looking at the tools given by roblox and i’ve tried to optimize to avoid this but to no avail.
Edit: I did a stress test of my server, telling everyone to use their abilities continuously, and it was the heaviest stress test performance yet the server still stood firm, My servers did not crash this much until recently in this month (September), And i have reviewed all changes i did this month but there is nothing that leads to these sudden crashes, not even the tools provided, the memory does not even exceed, at least answer me.
