I’m showing a lobby for Men of War, an upcoming Napoleonic-era based game that takes place on both land and sea.
Server Browser
Using a combination of TeleportService, datastores, and MessagingService I was able to create a comprehensive server list as well as an advanced matchmaking algorithm to find the best server based on player region, server size, and friends.
Users can also create servers with custom names and passwords that other users can join via the server browser.
Customization
Users can also customize their own character, which will appear in-game. They’re able to chose their face, clothing, accessories, and more. The system utilizes a completely modular system to make adding more categories and options easy.
Settings
The game also comes with a basic settings menu, which can easily be added upon and supports multiple ways of displaying settings.
Future
- A shooting range will be added as well, allowing new users to join and play a tutorial, however upon joining back this becomes an option to join the shooting range.
- New accessories and hats are being made by the Men of War development team, to ensure users have a wide variety of options when it comes to creating their character
Big thanks to:
- Me, scripting and UI.
- @suwak_attack, for character animations.
- IllinoisCentraI and Scarcala for terrain and map creation.
- @ItzMeHere for 3D assets.
- @Graham6292 and @LPrinceNapoIeonII for civilian clothing.
- Everyone else who helped me, but I didn’t mention them here!
Fun fact: programming this took over 4100 lines of code and a lot of trial and error
