Local Sound importer - view audios inside studio before uploading them!

Install  Source Code :floppy_disk:

HELLO! Today, I bring to you AN AMAZING PLUGIN! This plugin allows you to view audio before deciding to upload them. This is very useful for seeing if an audio fits with a scene before having to spend that amazing robux on it! Without further ado, lets get onto the plugin!!!

Here’s how easy it is to add audio

Set up

First, install the plugin here. Once you do, restart studio.

Once you installed the plugin, click on the import button
image

Once you click it, you should get a file prompt. Once you do, click on an mp3 file. Once you do, it’ll insert a audio inside whatever u have selected(or in workspace if you have nothing selected).

Then, just play it! There you go, that simple! This is good for seeing if an audio matches with a scene and what not.

Limitations

Now, there are some limitations with this due to the file import api and how roblox allows file to be imported

  • Audio cannot be tested in play mode(only edit mode). Audio can also not be played on the roblox client

  • audio isn’t replicated on teamcreate. If you want to show a friend the audio via teamcreate you either have to publish it on roblox, screenshare it on discord, or make them import it

  • once you restart studio, audio is lost.

  • you can’t upload copy righted audio or inappropriate audio. This is roblox’s moderation bots at play, so keep that in mind. if you do, you won’t be able to play the audio.

Keep in mind, this is all due to the file import api. I sadly cannot do anything about it

outro

anyways, i hope this plugin could help you out! If u have any questions, feedback, bug reports, or suggestions then feel free to say bellow !

Sorry, but what’s wrong with just playing the audio file on your PC?

Checking for copyright possibly.

i see what you mean. but sometimes, audio doesn’t very much match with the scene and what not. So after you tested it(by paying the upload fee), you’d realize you just wasted robux on an audio that doesn’t match with the scene at all. This plugin is useful for that since you can view the audio in studio before having to pay the upload fee. So you can see if it matches with the scene or not. Also for seeing copyright like @OceanTubez said.

This is an excellent plugin concept. Well done :+1:t2:

To those who are wondering what is the point?

You see, instead of wasting your time and Robux just to preview audios in-game, you can use this to make sure that you have what you want quickly.

Additionally, not all Sound players are the same, so your audio might sound great on one software but horrible on a different one.

Yeah! Sometimes you waste robux and realize the sound isn’t right on roblox or this and that and this is very useful thank you so much!

No problem! Glad i could help!

Wow, this is awesome! As a sound designer, this is going to be super helpful to experiment without having to pay a pesky fee for something you might not want to use in the final product.

No way! Glad i could help you out

Very nice plugin and its so short too! Great contribution to the community. Expect to see more great plugins!:+1:

Thank you!
What does this mean?

Wow you responded fast. Well I expect to see plugins that will help you day to day in studio like the creations from @Sol_ttu.

Wow, thank you for those kind words! Didn’t expect to see those today lol(i thought people would say this was useless lol)

It’s not useless, just because someone didn’t find a use for it yet doesn’t mean it doesn’t have any, here is an example:

It’s much better to first look at how the sound fits in to the game and what kind of effects you can add to it rather than paying who knows how much just to be disappointed and not use it.

Lets say your making sounds for your game and then you decide to stop developing because its too hard to make or you lose motivation, who will refund what you spent on those sounds, not roblox for sure. But that’s what special about this plugin, it saves you from being wary and losing robux. At least know that I support it.
