Localization sort / easier ways to find localised games

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to show your audience that your game has been localised in a specific language. This is because there is no way for a user to know that a game has been localised unless the developer has either written the name in that specific language or has stated that it’s in another language on the game’s name.

If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my game / my development experience because users that have set their language to something other then English will know that the game has been localised in their language. This may make that game appeal more to that user and will also make it easier for the user to find games that have been localised to a specific language without searching through many games in the popular sort. Making localised games easier to find may also push more popular developers to focus on localising their games which as Roblox grows is becoming more important.

Possible solutions

  • Adding a sort to the games page which shows all of the games that have been localised in to the user’s chosen language.
  • Configuring the games page and giving more information about what languages a game has been localised in.
  • Show an icon on games that have been localised in the language. Example by @Aquaventurer

Not really true. If the user has their primary language set to their native one, players will see the titles of the game in the games tab in their language.

What could help with this, is to make the language setting more visible to the player that doesn’t scroll to the very bottom of page nor checks the settings page.

I do agree that this should be a sort because as a Roblox Translator, it’s hard to promote localized content unless you do it on a third-party website/app that doesn’t always reach the entirety of the player base and at times impossible if a certain app/website isn’t popular at all in a certain country. It would also help with promoting one of Roblox’s main goals which are making sure everyone around the globe can enjoy community-made content.

Having a new sort would also give developers another reason to take up localization services since many of them dream of being and staying on the front page for as long as they can. At this point, it would be easier for smaller developers to break out on the front page with a little help of translators.
