Just got reports of some text in a menu doubling strangely. This menu handles server jobid guids but this is not shown in the ui. I’m not sure if its related specifically to this menu or its content or if its just a coincidence that this menu is affected.
I think it’s related to the text scraper but I have no idea.
I’m on mobile so I can’t do better than this right now.
My game has guids used in a few places, it looks like one might have snuck into a user facing label. I wouldn’t expect that to break the scraper. Maybe combined with some other unlucky conditions caused this; F3X has several long strings that I’ve also seen warnings for, who knows.
In this case I give parts guid names so I can use a remote function to return a new part that hasn’t been streamed to the client yet.
Hey, sorry for the delay. I checked a private server and studio and the text issue is still occurring, but the error graphs look like they’ve gone back to normal. My players still report broken text. Any idea what happened?
Thinking maybe this issue corrupted some other data (translations maybe)? Or I have something bad cached? The strings are correct in the properties panel, but they’re showing a broken string in the UI.
From studio:
FWIW digging in the error dashboard I found these two, but maybe benign. The second one is the entire message returned when searching for số (vietnamese for number? Why is this error partially localized?). It looks like part of the first message, not sure if it’s the log search breaking or something else; I couldn’t find back the whole first message via search.
Invalid entry {“key”:“”,“context”:“”,“source”:“{{a{number1}-{number2}e{number3}d-{number4}cc{number5}-ab{number6}a-a{number7}b{number8}}}”,“translation”:“{a {số1}- {số2}e {số3}d- {số4}cc {số5}-ab {số6}a {số7}b {số8}”}. Incomplete parameter token at end of string.
Hey thanks for the details, we’re gonna keep looking into this and keep you updated. Just to confirm - the duplicated text that you’re seeing only happens when you’re in a non-source language? Or even when you’re joining the game in English?
When you join in Portugese, the same text is broken, but its broken in English. All text that is not english seems to be fine. If you join the game in English, the same text is broken, and the text that wasn’t broken in Portuguese is also not broken in English. English is the source language.
So in other words, I think text with translation data is fine. Text without translation data is not fine?
We are starting to experience something [kinda?] similar (lacking the TextScraper warning) but the text is duplicating following a ( in a string. We use the automatic translation systems in our game Pinewood Computer Core.
Reports from our players started coming in this morning for us where text was duplicating, with no errors on their client.
A simple reproduction in our game would be running /e !serverlag in chat. On a typical day, it would print out a text to explain server lag (lag%) on top of your screen.
Here’s a photo of it operating normally. (The place in this photo does not seem to experience this issue)
Here’s a photo of the issue occurring in-game. It appears to only impact TextLabels with the AutoLocalize property set to true
For reference, this same system is used for other game announcements and properly auto-translates text.
Hey @PeZsmistic , we’ve identified the bad parameterized entry that was causing the duplicate strings to render - this should be fixed for your experience now. We apologize for this - we’re using this as an important data point to improve our scraping system, so we really appreciate all the feedback y’all have given us!
Hi there! We’ve also removed a bad parameterized entry from your experience’s table. Could you check if the strings are rendering correctly for you now?
