That’s the link to the game I’m working on. I’m mostly just programming it but I’v also built everything in that game so far. I’m looking for someone that could help me build a lot of abandoned/wrecked buildings to use in towns and cities that I’ll need for the game. If you’re serious about it you will receive a fair percentage of the revenue from the game via Split Arrow Productions.
Is it just a 2D game or am I missing a button?
Right now there is only one house and it’s only in the sand biomes. Move around on that map until you find an H, go to it and click investigate and you will spawn in the house.
Alright make sure you let people know about that in the future. You’ll lose 90% of your players when they see the 2d interface if they don’t realize it’s a 3d game.
Do you think 3D characters in the thumbnail would be enough to let people know that?
…so I guess I’m on my own then.
Most builders here aren’t really looking to jump onto projects they know little about, especially when no up-front payment is offered. It’s often better to provide a little backstory to yourself, what you’ve done, and what you’re working on now. The post is extremely vauge, and (from my perspective) you haven’t made a name for yourself yet so people don’t know if you’re worth the time or not. It might make someone interested. Failing that, I would go and ask friends or people you know.
You should give a full layout of what you need built.
No. I would start the player in the 3D environment and then transition them to the map.
Yeah this is going to be one of the best ways. It looked like I was playing some 2D rpg / dwarf fortress kind of game and I along with most Roblox players just wouldn’t get 1 minute into it. I think it’s crucial that players understand that it’s not a 2D game.
So I’ll make a required tutorial… because I don’t have time to add some huge intro with a backstory. The game isn’t really suppose to be getting played right now so I won’t add it until I officially release the game.
I will probably sound like a dick when I say this but I’m saying it through the perspective of roblox players.
Most just want to jump in and start playing. If you have a mandatory tutorial, it will make a lot of people leave before ever finishing it. They don’t want to have to do work when they play your game. They should just be able to join in and mostly know what to do.
There are good ways to do tutorials though and you may have some in mind for all I know. Bethesda Game Studios does it well with The Elder Scroll and Fallout. When you launch the game, you get in and just start playing. The tutorial is done through the game intro and it walks you through the basics. Nothing is complicated, nothing feels too forced because you are simply playing.
If you rush a tutorial out and make users spend even 5 minutes going through it, you will lose a lot of people. There’s no one way to do a good tutorial but if you mess it up, you will hurt your growth.
It’s okay you don’t sound like a dick I understand what you’re saying. I think I’m just going to make a skippable tutorial with pictures like apoc rising has.
