Looking for feedback on my game

Game link: :european_castle: [SKIBIDI] Build Your Empire! :earth_asia:

released a month ago & since then I have taken all the advice possible related to improving the game. I asked a lot of friends if I should start advertising it and most of them said yes while a few of them said that it would be better if it had some more content. I also agree with the second opinion but I decided to take a break and see the reaction of new players, and the game is currently being sponsored.

Note: the horrible like ratio existed before the massive revamp that the game received.

I have some questions that would help me identify the state of the game:

  • Do you think the first 5 minutes of content are bad? if so, what should I do to improve them?
  • How complex is the game?
  • Does it really need more content? (After you finish the quests part)

The first 5 minutes of gameplay aren’t appealing. You spawn into a desolate area with barely anything in sight. It looks like the game has no content when you first spawn. I also think the quests are kind of weird and they just aren’t engaging. No offense, but the game looks really low effort. The quality is just not desirable. The game icon is clearly AI generated and there are free models. Furthermore, the quests don’t actually make logical sense. For instance, giving a farmer milk doesn’t build a massive stone wall.

The game idea is semi-interesting. However, I believe it is very poorly executed. The milk quest is as far as I got before I quit because the game is just boring. (I was bored within 2 minutes but kept playing just to see if it maybe got a bit better) Sadly, it didn’t get better. There isn’t really much you can do about this. If this was one of my own projects, I would scrap it completely and start over. I would keep the same general idea but execute it differently and change the gameplay mechanics.

To be honest, and this is merely constructive criticism so don’t get upset, I would never play this game. And I feel like most people would agree with that. It’s just not really successful game material, I’m sorry.

Again, don’t take offense, this is merely my opinion. I can’t answer your other two questions because I quit playing too early to know.

  1. I still don’t understand what’s wrong with having an AI-generated icon, it isn’t a crime against the community or anything and a lot of games do use AI-generated icons.
  2. No free models were used in this game (you thought that because low poly is all similar nowadays)

As for your notes on the part of the quest, I can agree and understand why they are boring. I am still trying to keep the quests system but with not boring quests at least and this is something major that everyone was commenting on.

Also in what way is the quality not desirable, I doubt adult players who like hyper-realistic games will join & enjoy my game with the current content that it has and I also doubt that kids will join my game if it wasn’t bright & low poly.

I also wanted to say that knowing you played for only 2 minutes and barely finished the quests, I don’t see how it makes sense for you to say about the whole game that it is POORLY made & has BARELY any content. I am saying this only because you weren’t the first one to do it because when I am asking for feedback, I need it to be at least when you say what the game actually has. I try to come & post here knowing that Devs are different than the normal players, so I might find someone who is actually interested in doing anything besides giving his opinion on a whole game when he saw 10% of it. I’m sorry if this sounded too harsh but this is something I wanted to note out if any other person is willing to help.

They don’t display the contents of the game at all, and usually contain several mistakes.

Also, if I remember correctly, you’ve posted about this exact game before and got nearly identical feedback from people.

(And probably unrelated to the game, too)

They’ll join the game, but they sure won’t stay since your game is even less lacking in gameplay than a “simulator” like PSX.

Recycling content ~= New content. Doing the same stuff over and over with nothing else to do gets boring fast.

The first impression is everything. If a user plays your game for 5 minutes and hates it, why on earth would they continue playing for the chance it’ll get better?

From what I’ve read on both of your posts, your game is just a walking simulator, which is the least fun “genre” ever.

I myself would leave after not even 3 minutes judging by what everyone is saying.

AI generated icons are seen as lazy. They don’t reflect the quality of the actual game. The building and over all style in the icon look much more visually pleasing than the actual game. AI generated icons are basically the Roblox equivalent of YouTube click baiting. It’s frowned upon, simple as that.

I wasn’t claiming your whole game was a bunch of free models. I was stating there are a few free models in the game. You claim “No free models were used in this game.”
The first free model I immediately recognized upon playing was the cow.

As a developer, I am different than most players. I played for about 10-15 minutes total. If I were a normal player, I would’ve left the very second I spawned in and saw the map. The fact is, most games are judged on first impressions. First impressions help the player determine if they want to continue playing or not. The first impression is horrid (no offense). And honestly, like I already said, it doesn’t get better.

It’s clear that you don’t have a player base of adults or kids so what does that tell you?

Like I previously stated, I would ditch the game and start fresh. This game isn’t going anywhere. I’m just being honest, I don’t mean to offend you. The feedback loop kind of sucks and the overall game design is severely lacking.

Side note: I think everyone I’ve said is really just a summary of what numerous people have told you already. You did make a post before this one which got a lot of feedback. Many people basically said what I’m saying. You seemed to have, in many cases, gotten really defensive towards these people. I don’t really know what you’re looking for as a reply. Would you like people to tell you the game is great and all you need to do is advertise it? Because that’s just not the case. Our criticisms may seem harsh but they are merely the truth. Take our feedback into account and actually make some changes rather than defending yourself against our claims.
