Looking for ideas to implement in a moba genre inspired game

Currently working on a moba game and looking for feedback from the community on what would make it Roblox friendly(Interesting for the Roblox community rather than MOBA lovers)

I have the main core gameplay planned but in need of help with a couple of dilemmas I’m having:

  • Should the game be focused around a choice of Heroes or Classes to choose from? Main Difference would be heroes would have unique abilities of their own. If I were to go for classes instead I was considering having a dungeon crawler approach to it(unique items for each class allowing progression)
  • What leveling system should I opt for? Should I take a linear approach of levelling up through XP or would a different ranking system that has more progression paths?(e.g. allowing classes/heroes to have a levelling system of their own that would unlock cool new skins/abilities)

Overall looking to hear about any mechanics I might have not thought about that would give the game that sense of unicity!

So, as soneone who has tried to do a moba on roblox I’m very interested in seeing how you progress with this.

I havent pushed the game hard so it only has a small community. But i have definitely struggled to retain new players. Theres a debate as yo why that is.

Some people say its the movement and casting mechanics (WASD movement with 12345 for abilities + click for targeting). I tried click to move but robloxs path finding isn’t up to the quality needed.

Others have said its balancing and lack of features (no craftable items or jungle creeps).

But these people have been “real” moba players.

So my advice is deterkjne your audience first (roblox noobs vs experienced moba players) and then this will help you pick which mechanics will be most popular.
