Hello! I have been working on a game recently, and my partner and I can’t seem to think of a suitable name. Originally, we were planning on calling it “Rocket Simulator”, but that name does not fit the game at all; the game is not a traditional Roblox simulator.
Our game is a rocket launching game. You have a launchpad from where you launch over 31 different rockets, bought from a tech tree menu. You can deploy satellites, rovers, and probes to earn research and build up your money per second. In the future, we may add a feature where the player can board a rocket and land on a planet to build their own space base.
I guess this game is kind of a tycoon, but ‘Rocket Tycoon’ is too generic. Calling it something like ‘Rocket Monopoly’ would make players think of the board game.
Because of that, I’d suggest something more unique such as ‘Age of Exploration’, ‘Space Venture’, or ‘Planet Explore’. Try to think of something creative that will pique the viewer’s curiosity.
Companies can do what they want if you host possible copyrighted names or property. They can take action against the developer and Roblox if a notice isn’t complied with.
Prime Example: Roblox takes down Pokemon Brick Bronze so Nintendo can’t pursue any further action with copyright.
Edit: I believe Vesteria is also getting Right to Erasure notices for data. While this isn’t related to copyright, it does show how games on Roblox are taken seriously and need to follow the same and current regulations set.
I believe Notoriety actually suffered a copyright notice from the creators of Payday 2 over the name they had previously as well (ironically I can’t remember the original name). In short, never underestimate the copyright laws just because “it’s a kids game”.
I’m well aware and I agree, I’m only stating that Elon Musk has better things to do than bully a Kid’s game but I didn’t say the rest of the world does.
While I’ve stated my opinion, I’ve also provide a Solution to the problem, the OP should have a sufficient amount intelligence capacity to acknowledge the problem and come up with another name anyways, you shouldn’t get sued for Space Ex
