Was wondering about universe scripts myself… Maybe it’ll be in the new Game Explorer that IS on their roadmap.

Large Object Stores! I sure hope it can be used for CSG generated during gameplay

Now this is exciting, I’m especially excited for:

Atmospheric Fog

Creatively blends objects into the background instead of using a solid color.

Custom Materials

Adds SurfaceAppearance object that enables PBR textures for mesh parts.

MaterialsService

Ability to extend built-in materials with custom textures.

Procedural Skies

Performant procedural clouds.

Future is Bright v3

Extends PBR calculations to other light objects.

Enhanced Terrain Vegetation

Enables Custom Materials for terrain vegetation.

Parallel Lua

Enables Lua scripts to run on separate hardware threads.

Can’t wait how these updates will turn out!

They’ve expressed in the past (in relation to luau) that they would be releasing Luau (I believe is the correct term here?) so it can be used outside of studio. (Also Arseny, it looks like it’s going to happen :smirk:)

I haven’t seen this question anywhere (correct me if I’m wrong) with the custom materials will it be uploaded under decals or have a new section? I hope it will have its own section so we don’t have to sort through stuff.

Hadn’t seen that! Hoping the LSP does get released to us though, if not open source.

…Though I suppose we may be better off making our own community made LSP at some point. Unsure with that regard.

I’m really looking forward to script version history since I have waited for something git-like to be natively supported by studio

This year is looking mighty mighty bright, especially FiB v3, Atmospheric Fog and Procedural Skies. Curious to ask, will we ever see Particle Shadows implemented into Roblox?

While there’s plenty of fun things on the roadmap, ultimately…

I am excited for all of the planned features  I wonder how they are going to tackle the multi-threading because lua doesn’t support it natively.

Super excited for Large Object Stores, Shared Memory (Previously known as Ephermial Data Stores), and Cloud Scripts (replacing Universe Scripts).

Everything here is pretty exciting and I hope that most of it can get done this year. I’m happy to see Roblox release so many quality updates while still focusing on quality first though. Take your time and do it right, you’re killing it.

I am so excited for this! Anything that resembles FMOD Studio would be a godsend. ESPECIALLY FOR ENGINE SOUNDS.

Amazing! I see a lot of really exciting features!

Large object stores, automatic translation, script versioning, shared memory… :eyes:

This roadmap is genuinely exciting, with massive features I could have only dreamed of back in ~2010. I’m eager to see how ROBLOX will evolve by 2021.

This roadmap gives me high hopes for the platform, and shows how much the team is investing into improving the platform.

I’m particularly excited for all the IDE enhancements, and it’s great to see ROBLOX develop the plugin system; I know i personally shy away from plugins due to not being able to track what they do (i.e is it sending my place and scripts to the plugin developer’s DB via http?).

I think the plugin system will be a huge boost to the platform; useful “libraries” of tools can really streamline the development process.

Respect to the talented team at ROBLOX. I’m sure you guys can make this happen!

Has closed-source modules been forgotten? Are there any status on this?
