Does this entail storing models or storing giant amounts of data in general?
Iām so glad mesh deformation and PBR are coming out sooner than I thoughtā¦ I have a lot of things plannedā¦
Hereās Aeroās (mine) Top Picks:
-
Full Script Editor
Honestly, this update is something I am looking forward to. I have worked countless times with the API for VS Code (regarding language support) and I can say that LSP is quite reliable. With this change, scripting becomes faster and more at home. -
Procedural Skies
Weather was something I have been planning for MONTHS in my game (Rodblogan Warfare). However, cloud cover and rain was the trickiest. This, however, eliminates one of the issues. I donāt just want it for that reason, but to also add more depth to the game Iāve been working on for 2 years regarding the environment. -
Creator Talent Hub
This is something I am excited about. I am happy to see that devs get a place to showcase what they could have worked on for months, maybe even years. Thatās all I have to say. -
Cloud Scripts
This is something that Iāve wanted since it first appeared in 2018. Iāve delayed making leaderboards to wait on this, as well as matchmaking. Only leaderboards went in my game as months went by regarding this, and I finally cracked. Matchmaking, however, isnāt going in until this comes out. My one request to Roblox Staff: PLEASE donāt forget about this.
Those are my picks for what I am excited to see.
For the Custom Materials, will we be able to apply Normal and Specular maps to Texture and Decal objects as well?
A new decade, a great 2020 for Roblox updates. Just took a quick peek at the Roadmap, looks awesome so far.
Most exciting thing since sliced rice.
POG! I canāt wait to see Future Is Bright V3 feature in Oct-Dec 2020!!
Iām scared for my life with this facial animation thingā¦
I was scared for my life with this Rthro crap, but it seems like Roblox is steamrolling in that direction and may actually remove R6 one day.
Yoo! This is soo good! These updates are gonna be super cool! I canāt wait.
Was wondering about universe scripts myselfā¦ Maybe itāll be in the new Game Explorer that IS on their roadmap.
Large Object Stores! I sure hope it can be used for CSG generated during gameplay
Now this is exciting, Iām especially excited for:
Atmospheric Fog
Creatively blends objects into the background instead of using a solid color.
Custom Materials
Adds SurfaceAppearance object that enables PBR textures for mesh parts.
MaterialsService
Ability to extend built-in materials with custom textures.
Procedural Skies
Performant procedural clouds.
Future is Bright v3
Extends PBR calculations to other light objects.
Enhanced Terrain Vegetation
Enables Custom Materials for terrain vegetation.
Parallel Lua
Enables Lua scripts to run on separate hardware threads.
Canāt wait how these updates will turn out!
Theyāve expressed in the past (in relation to luau) that they would be releasing Luau (I believe is the correct term here?) so it can be used outside of studio. (Also Arseny, it looks like itās going to happen )
I havenāt seen this question anywhere (correct me if Iām wrong) with the custom materials will it be uploaded under decals or have a new section? I hope it will have its own section so we donāt have to sort through stuff.
Hadnāt seen that! Hoping the LSP does get released to us though, if not open source.
ā¦Though I suppose we may be better off making our own community made LSP at some point. Unsure with that regard.
Iām really looking forward to script version history since I have waited for something git-like to be natively supported by studio
This year is looking mighty mighty bright, especially FiB v3, Atmospheric Fog and Procedural Skies. Curious to ask, will we ever see Particle Shadows implemented into Roblox?
