Mac run very hot

The recent update this month caused my MacBook air to heat up even when opening an empty project, and as long as I pressed F5 to run the game, it caused the following abnormal cpu overhead

I don’t see anyone mentioning this on the forums, so I have to mention that I think the recent update is causing studio to have serious performance issues

What model is your Mac? If you running on a mac that is not recent, it’s normal that Macbook Air ran something 3D like Studio will give hot eventually, its just how laptop/Macbook works.

MacBook Air 2020 M1 chip

This is definitely not normal, that is, recently the computer has been seriously hot, even an empty project hot has been as serious as playing Resident Evil Village

Vik’s right, it shouldn’t be behaving like that.

I have an M2 Max Macbook Pro and the CPU usage is nowhere near what Vik is experiencing.

Note that macOS defines % CPU as 100% per core rather than entire system.

I’d do some checking around and see if any studio plugins are causing the issue or if you’re running into large amounts of memory compression or swap, as that taxes the CPU.

You can open the terminal and use the following command to open studio without any plugins:

open /Applications/RobloxStudio.app --args -disableLoadUserPlugins

I tried this a long time ago and even uninstalling all the plugins didn’t help, so I think there is a problem inside studio

Try reinstalling studio (complete uninstall then reinstall). It’s possible there’s some corrupted file.

I tried that a week ago. It didn’t work. I think there’s a pointless loop inside the studio that drains computer power

Am I the only one experiencing this anomaly?

this is true! last year, my mac never overheated and I ran on max graphics.
Maybe it is summer heat? But I doubt that just because room temperature is up means that my mac suddenly over heats by 10 times

I’m pretty sure the OPs macbook has no cooling fans. Meanwhile yours is a macbook pro which does have cooling fans and helps in keeping the temps down.

This is an internal problem of the studio, which is completely unacceptable and affects people like us who like to create content in different environments. The laptop battery cannot support such meaningless behavior of wasting power

Is your issue about temperature of the laptop? I didn’t get you at all.

Hmm, this issue is very interesting. What model Mac device do you have? Roblox needs to fix this issue.

Just an ordinary M-chip Mac, I can only press F7 to run now, so that a new studio instance can be tested and shut down, so that the original studio instance to avoid entering this hot state

We’ve fixed the issue! Everything should be running properly now (with a fresh restart ) and you’re Mac no longer should be on :fire: Are you encountering any more difficulties?

You did fix it, and I didn’t do a client update. How did you implement this bug and then fix it? Is there an error remotely connecting to the Roblox server? It’s amazing to me
