I think this is really good for your first time doing a game icon, but I think that the space beside the character looks a bit empty, you should add more detail there. Also, you should make it so the character is looking either at the viewer or more to the right.

Cool, but the lighting doesnt match the background at all and if i was you i would turn down the blur on the background a bit. You could also add stuff like overlays, gfx effects, etc. But overall all i think you need is to make the character Bigger maybe position it more downwards and fix the lighting
