Make it easier to check if a report has already been filed for a bug

As a bug reporter, it is difficult to check if an issue has already been reported. Currently, reporters have to manually use the search to check. Due to there being over 12k members in @AllowBugReports and an average of over 100 reports filed weekly, manually checking can be difficult. Comparing a report’s description by searching isn’t a feasible option, and searching by title might not be effective because people can word things differently. I acknowledge that closing and locking duplicate reports doesn’t require much effort; However, I only foresee this problem worsening as the AllowBugReports group gets more members.

Personally, I suggest implementing a system in the bug wizard that compares a proposed report’s title and description to already existing reports and shows a list of similar reports. This would be very convenient for checking if there’s a report for an issue before filing. Maybe this could be achieved with AI.

If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my experience filing reports by making it easier to see if there’s an existing report for bug and reducing the amount of duplicate reports in general.

Are you on mobile or PC?
When I’ve posted bugs in the past I’ve been given a list of similar posts.

I just read a post about that not being a feature when posting on mobile.
Similar posts should be shown when creating a topic on mobile

Thanks for this suggestion :slight_smile: definitely something to thing about. Dupes are easy to close out, but it would be better if you could just find them quickly before you post.

We are working on lots of improvements to bug reports / feature requests, I’ll make a note of this.

I mainly use mobile. The purpose of this feature request is to make it easier to compare reports before filing, and the bug wizard currently lacks this feature.

Edit: I was able to find it. However, I don’t know if it’s reliable enough to compare reports because I’ve never used it before.

I appreciate you acknowledging this request! I don’t necessarily expect it to be immediately prioritized due to the low effort workaround: It’s mainly something you guys can start thinking of now and work on for the long term. I’ve noticed how this problem has grown, and I believe implementing a feature like this could help the teams.

Well, it is definitely a good notice, we are doing lots of work on the feedback system right now (improving bug reports, want to open feature request posting to everyone, build better mechanisms to keep you all updated). So this could be useful too.
