Hello right now I am making my own cashgrab kinda obby where the title is “Premium VS Bacon Obby” that is that there is a premium lane and a bacon lane where they compete with each other to prove that their side is the best…
EIther I’m crap at obbies or one of the first jumps is impossible.
Regardless, why’d you make the map in blender if you’re just gonna use blocks for the obstacles anyway? And theres 0 effort whatsoever into making the game appealing from a player just joining’s perspective. There’s just an “op” rocket launcher gamepass button and nothing differentiating the two obbies visibly. Even for a cash grab, this game is terrible.
And if you’re scrolling on the forum and reading this and thinking I’m rude… play the game.
Do you expect that to affect my opinion? You asked for feedback, I gave it to you, and I’m not gonna sugarcoat it for it being your first obby. In fact, it’d be worse if I lied to you and said it was any good, because perhaps you would consider pouring money into advertising it or something. To make it a bit more constructive, add some decorations that actually make it look like one side is premium and one side is for normies. No offense, but with the tools in studio, anyone could make an obby just as good or better with 30 minutes even with 0 roblox studio experience, even accounting for the gamepass button.
im just gonna give this to your raw since that’s the only way to improve:
You need more UI and better-looking UI in general
You need better contrast with the skybox and the actual obstacle parts - literally hard af to see where all the obstacle parts are
The game thumbnail/icon isn’t captivating enough haha AI could generate better
Change the particle effects for each spawn and make it more brainrotted
Maybe have a progress bar UI that shows the obstacle progress? also display what stage people are on(can’t solely be on the playerlist tab)
Make a better spawn area - feels a bit tight
Add color variations to the actual obstacle parts(play other obbies and take note of what they do and put it in a document - best way to improve is to analyse WHAT WORKS)
Make sure you have proper funnels & analytics setup so you can adjust your game once you reel players in
The first 10-20 stages of the obby should be stupid easy - currently it’s a bit too hard to do the first few stages and in general you want it to be a no-brainer
You don’t have to start over. If this is one of your first games, use it as a learning experience. Play around, make it better one block at a time. Learn what works and what doesn’t so you don’t lose interest in making something in the future when things get harder to grasp. Use it as a fun learning experience, not a cash grab until you make some renovations.
i didnt lol, dw about like ratios - they don’t affect algorithm at all
even my game got pooped on - but that’s because there were issues and already fixed them
in general like ratios don’t affect algorithm DIRECTLY but it’s an indicator of bad user experiences within your game so it’s more of an indicator that your game is bad/has issues
at the end of the day you have to keep in mind that you are competing against people who already know what they’re doing - just focus on nailing the basics before expecting revenue
Imma be honest with you, your obby game is bad.
But hey, don’t be discouraged if it’s one of your first obbies!
Let’s see the current flaws it has:
Impossible jump
Repetitive gameplay
Lack of variance
Easy(?) purist gameplay (little to no Client Objects)
When making an obby you have to try to make it have variation, you have to take into account the distance between platforms, the size of the platforms, the rotation, etc… Bad gameplay almost always has repetitive jumps, like a bunch of platforms infront of each other, or a lot of killbrick jumps without any variance. Try rotating platforms, Changing their position, adding some walls to force camera rotation and you will see your obby improving. Don’t make purist easy obbies. They are boring as hell since at easy-medium difficulty you don’t have many jumps to work with. I recommend adding client objects to your game, like Killbricks or Spinning Platforms. Maybe your obby had those but I couldn’t see them since one of the jumps is impossible. Also please playtest your obby to see if it’s even possible.
This heavily depends on the type of obby. If you want your obby to be for more experimented obbyists PLEASE don’t do this. Your obby will be boring as hell, although since your obby is a cashgrab this would probably be the best thing you can do…
I think I might actually make a topic on how to make good obbies.
also the white parts blend in with the white sky and makes it more difficult to look at than it needs to be.
who is this game for? you call it a cashgrab so obviously it’s intended for kids, but there is absolutely no reason that any kid would play this for longer than 10 seconds, let alone buy anything.
dude it aint even the 2 stage and it is impossible to pass. Have you even tested the game? Good devs playtest their game MANY times (im going to give an example: small update changing some mechanics: minimum 20 times or even more.. it’s really important to TEST your game). It appears that you didnt even tested a single time… well, good luck in your developer journey, keep this as a learning experience and dont delete this game
Im guessing the game is pretty bad. BUT if its your first obby dont sweat it too much. You made a game and thats awesome. No one would master darts if the first shot they tried missed the target entirely. This is a good leap foward.
@AceVendarion did a pretty good job explaining the issues in your game.
My own advice is to always play you own games. Every good game maker swears by play testing, and its how valve made some of there most iconic games. Play your own games every step of creation.
second I recommend playing other games the same genre. Seeing what makes them great. Picking out what you like and putting it in your game, combining all of what you like and think its cool. This process often makes abominations but if you do it right, it can be a masterpiece.
Third, dont take what everyone is saying to hard, always take harsh criticism as the best criticism.
Lastly, dont aim for cash grabs, it often ruins the good of the game, and roblox was made on the idea for imagination. Create what you think is cool and fun. Not money making. Making a good gets you money anyway.
ofc, it’s subject to the type of obby that you’re making. However, with the style he’s doing, it isn’t like an obby difficulty rating type of game, it makes more sense for him to do that
