Making a game popular

Recently, i released my game Witch Tycoon ([NEW!] Witch Tycoon 🧙‍♀️ - Roblox)
I tried using sponsors to get people to my game but ended up getting too low impressions. I don’t think %1.9 ctr is bad (most ads i’ve seen had lower ctr) but with the amount of impressions i got the ad failed and had a really high CPP.

I know that the game is not unique or not a good game. However, when i checked the average visit length it is around 9-10 minutes which is not that bad.
My question is;
What is the reason for the failure of this ad and what could i have done better? Why did i get too low impressions compared to other people?
and a second question is;
How do other tycoon/simulator games get popular even though they are basically the same/worse than this one. Some of them have thousands of players playing, how can this be possible?

What is the easiest way to get from 0 to 100k visits to get the game started?

A good way to get so many visits is to add something in your game which keeps them coming back like daily rewards or something. You should also ask friends to play and then those friends will ask their friends to play and it will keep going in a loop until you have a small player base.

I added a reward system with timer to keep people in game longer.
I am 20 years old and i don’t have a friend who would play tycoon games (Since tycoon games are usually for people under 15).

Not under 15 it is primarily for kids however anybody can play what they want on Roblox whether they’re old or not.
If people are only staying for 10 minutes then clearly your game is missing something. You should ask the players of your game personally what they would like added.

10 minutes isn’t good but i don’t think its that bad either considering there are lots of players who immediately leave the game. It is kinda hard to ask the players when there are not many of them and they usually don’t speak at all. Even if they speak they just say random things.
That’s why i created this topic to get help from other developers to find what’s missing.

I would say anything above 30 minutes is good. Anything above 1 hour is very good. However 10 minutes is a good start.

You could use a webhook to your game to help you recieve player messages through an in-game gui set up. That is just an idea that I am trying out.

My second thought would be to add more visuals that would be appealing. I am not saying that your chosen ad image is bad. Though from my experience as a player, when I choose to play a tycoon experience I choose from visuals. Then I try out the gameplay.

A couple of problems on this one, first of all, the thumbnails are pretty basic and won’t really attract players. People usually like well made gfx with good lighting and texturing and plenty of action (kids like vibrant, bright colours). The 2nd problems is because the game doesn’t really have a feel in it and its basic and plain. Think about it: Why would anyone play a basic, plain, boring tycoon game like all of the other tycoon games? Try adding more features, more colours, better ui, to make the game feel like its not a duplicate of the millions of tycoon games out there.

But that doesn’t explain the low impressions. Impressions are dependent only on the ad. What you mention would effect the ctr and the visits after the ad has ended. There are still average 20 new people coming per day, my ctr is also not that bad. I think my impressions have something to do with the date or my audience pick. There are lots of worse games than mine which get much more impressions than i do.

The low impressions could be because you chose a specific gender and only phone. Perhaps if you chose all genders and all devices, more people might see your ad, but it might decrease your CTR.
