Lots of horror games have flashlights which work just like ones in real life: the lighting isn’t chunky while it’s moving, and lights don’t phase through walls! When you get close to a wall or object in Roblox, the light types phase through them which is jarring and unrealistic. They’re also chunky (that being, it looks like Minecraft lights when “fancy” is turned off).
If there is a module or simple script that can replicate a realistic flashlight feel, please let me know!!! Spotlights, pointlights and all those other types just aren’t good enough unless there’s settings that can make them achieve the feel akin to a flashlight from DOORS or another high quality horror game.
Unless there is a new lighting technology or light object we are not aware of, Doors, Shopping Maw, and other horror games are using the same thing, scripting won’t fix what you want. What is Future lighting doing that needs to be changed in your game?
Make sure your flashlight Light source has Shadows true, and that the Parts you use for walls etc. have CastShadow true.
I just welded a flashlight to my player’s arm instead of using the tool animation. It allows the flashlight to follow your arm movement more naturally.
