Making a Successful group... [PART 1]

Who Am I?

Well first of all an introduction to my actual self amongst the many people on the dev forum.

Hi my name is SirJamesV and I am the original co founder of 3 Major groups including Soros Franchise, Bakiez & AUSA. All being leading RP groups in the world of ROBLOX.

I’ve been around for many years now with my first account being registered during April of 2007.

Ever since I have seen ROBLOX as an opportunity to collaborate with amazing developers such as yourselves to make platforms and communities where people can share new experiences.

The Tips

First of all I would highly suggest heading over to the group recruiting plaza to find this team of people and secondly do not be put down if you don’t get anyone on day one. The minute you’re people start recruiting with you it becomes a whole lot easier. Soros Franchise, Bakiez, Blackout Theater and many others evolved from a simple game of recruiting people.

From there on its all about finding people that will buy into the heart of why you are trying to run something. May it be a developer that you’re looking to hire full time or a team of creatives that will stick around to the end…

If the why is not clear then nor will the how.

You have got to sell your why and your heart to people and unless they are not willing to be part of the why you will just have another developer looking to earn some quick money.

So its all about the why…

SACRIFICE
To start of with, every knows that ROBLOX is just an online platform and that you should not spend your life trying to work on something as the real world is where real connections happen but how valuable is time really?

Well to say the least if you know the meaning of sacrifice then you are on the right track to making your group a massive success.

You cannot have both success and laziness put together.

It is impossible to sit on your couch all day and remake apple even though in this case it is.

All the successful groups that I have founded or co founded have come out of realising that if I have goals that I wish to achieve I am going to have to work for them. Which is where the word Sacrifice is key.

STORY TIME

When we first began progress on our group Bakiez it was a thing where the group and the team itself were out together 7 months before the official public release to the world. In this time of 7 months we worked hard recruiting new members and developers that we knew were going to make this work and become a success. [SEE PART 1 ON RECRUITMENT].

It was the 10 of us including our founder John working for 7 months on documents, training centres and much more in preparation for something 7 months away which could either go good or bad.

It was leading up to release date when we decided a week before hand to do a beta test run. Our letters of invite had been sent to the top most developers of the platform while our beta testers were doing their thing testing our game.

Success was just around the corner as we pushed forward one last time with all preparations. 7 months of sacrifice and hard work from 10 people was about to be finished once and for all…

In the month of February we opened our doors to the public not knowing what was about to happen. And it worked.

We saw over 3 servers full of 50 people each with some of the most exclusive developers the platform has ever seen and with in 3 months of release we saw our member count hit over 15,000 members.

From here it went uphill and what we had sacrificed for the last 7 months now was a empire of victory and accomplishment.

Today we look back after hitting 360,000+ members and we know that because of our sacrifice, we are where we are today.

In Part 2 we will be going over things such as finances and ads so stay tuned!
