Making Blacklisted Parts for Portal

Hey there!
I’ve recently found EgoMoose’s portal (link here, second place file on the post: Portal post) and I would like to blacklist certain materials so that portals can not be placed on them. I’ve tried many different ways, but can’t get it to work.

I’ve tried moving the parts out of the Placeable folder, so portals can’t be placed on them, but when I test it, the portal goes through those parts and onto the ones behind it, instead.

The other ways I’ve tried end up breaking things and causing errors. I’m not sure what to do.

The only way I have found that does work is to place the part in a space where there is nothing behind it, so the ray will not hit anything. However, this seems very inefficient, and won’t work if I’m trying to place black list parts in the center of a room.

For an idea of what I’m trying to do, I’m trying to recreate those brown blocks in Portal that don’t let you place portals on them.

Any and all help is appreciated.

I haven’t checked how his portal system works, but if you haven’t tried this already, how about just have a separate folder that’s in the raycast whitelist? And if any parts are in that folder, just cancel the portal placement.
