my builds feel less alive than usual and I cant figure out why
this is what I got right now.
I donāt really know what you mean by āless aliveā but Iāll try my best to give some advice.
If you want it to feel more lived in, you could add some small (preferably low poly) props and decals here and there around the road and near buildings. I see that you already did this with some leaf decals on the road, but other than that I couldnāt notice any other of subtle details. Adding small details like that would add a lot to making your builds feel alive.
Thatās common issue i can give some ideas to let your ābuildā look more alive.
You can add some rocks, NPCs, broken planks, huge rocks, more bushes, talking NPCs at the middle of the road, wooden road arrows, also you can play with lighting in game to make it more realistic or whatever.
maybe change graphics, or maybe add realistic things in ur building for example when it rains you can see water moving down the roof
Change the lightning and maybe add some more assets like Wood Wheelbarrow and some lamps. Iād put some small stones here and there but other than that the build looks alive and amazing! These things that I mentioned above are some of the small small details I would do. ĀØ
Keep it up and keep on building!

i do want to add npcs but i havent found any optimized npc modules or created one since i cant script
You can add more saturation in lighting to make everything looks bright, āchildishā and more excited. Alternatively, if you donāt want to do that, you can consider brighter use of colours theme in your build to make it more pops out and alive. I hope these advices help, best of luck!
It needs some sort of effect with movement in order to create a living environment.
Add a Day and Night cycle.
(^ Light sources activate, particles in lanterns active and give out some sort of movements)
Make random houses allow you to enter and see the inside.
Add to the chimney some smoke that bursts out.
By alive, Iām assuming you mean lived in, and to do that I would add elements that by their very nature have a unique and personal decorative appeal. Many people like to have potted plants, many people, especially in a rustic scenario, work, and may have gardening equipment and the likes. My best advice? Look up āsuburban town roads,ā or ācountry town roadsā or something of the likes, and find which pictures most appeal to what youāre trying to make, and find some examples that arenāt what you are trying to create. Compare and contrast elements of each to create a schema of what works best for what you are trying to create!11!!1!!
