Making my own Dungeon Crawler after Dungeon Quest let me down (3 months in)

Hi! I wanted to show a game I’ve been working on. It’s like Dungeon Quest but with real solid combat and actual fun mechanics in it… so nothing like Dungeon Quest.

Storyline:
After goblins started to rapidly appear on earth, they’ve only grown in numbers. They are naturally weak creatures that are greedy so they tend to stay in groups. They steal from dungeons built by an ancient race that’s long gone extinct. No one knows who they are, only that they built the vast and deep dungeons. The goblin pandemic has become so bad that humans are forced to live in desserts and mountains as goblins have made so many dens in the forest. Recently, other entities have been appearing too that can travel into these harsh environments and wipe out human civilizations. You, a gather, are out on a resource gathering mission at the edge of a forest when goblins attack you and your fellow comrades. As they finish off the rest of your allies, they chase you not too far into the dessert before you both get caught in a sand storm. Not being able to see, you misplace your footing and fall into a sinkhole. Turns out, that sinkhole is a broken section of a dungeon, and your trapped in it.
(This is the lore for the demo of the game I plan to release January, 2025)

The game’s lore gets decided by the community so feel free to add your own lore to it!

Here are some pictures

Keep going bro, this is great!

People make these amazing games, but why not in something like unity or godot?

For indie single player games that’d make sense
But if you have plans to make multiplayer games with persistent data and in app purchases, Roblox handles the necessary backend for that out of the box with little to no friction

  • multiplayer server hosting
  • player accounts
  • datastores
  • gamepasses / dev products / premium payouts → devex

even advertising

solo devs wanting to make “big” games starting out on Roblox makes sense because it’s so easy compared to everywhere else

I know this is kind of unrelated to the post, but how do people on dev forum get different titles like programmer or artist or something?

Find the post here:

This will help you get those.

The game is multiplayer, meaning Roblox is best for handling servers. Also datastores, etc.
