I have been wondering for a while now, what would be the most optimised way of mapping mocap data or keyframe data into the form of a procedurally animated walk cycle?
Here is a video Alexander, a developer within Ubisoft created to demonstrate IK Rigs that use Mocap Data to animate procedurally. Now, Alexander did make a presentation in a GDC conference on how IK Rigs work using his own engine, however, he did not really explain how he mapped the mocap and keyframe data to his procedurally animated IK Rig. He also uses the term “Rules” in the form of data which he sets to edit these mocap and keyframe datasets which lets him make custom animations (eg. A female walkstyle instead of a male one using the SAME animation data used from the male one)
Would really appreciate it if anybody could explain the mapping process for a walk cycle
