Mashables

Hia! Recently I encountered this really cool game called [b]Mashables/b . The description of the game explains its basis : “Mashables is a highly unique game in which each person is assigned to build a body part to a monster of sorts. After a set amount of time, the body parts the users built combine into a monster and a map is voted on. After the voted map loads, one person is chosen to be the monster while everyone else hides. Then, the monster has to find everyone. If the any player survives, they win. If the monster gets everyone, he wins.” The game follows a 2014-2015 gaming trend with the rebirth of asymmetrical multiplayer games, and does it relatively well.

In my personal opinion, it is the best asymmetrical game on Roblox as of right now, having the unique building-body-parts feature before the match begins. It is incredibly interesting seeing people’s creations mashed together in the monster, but you can’t observe for too long, or else you’ll jeopardize your chance at winning and get captured.

To get the best player experience, a 6 player server is needed, allowing for all user-made body parts, but if there’s a blank spot in the server, the computer will take the place and make its assigned part. Having the 6 players also means that everyone will take a part in the building process - even the person that will end up playing as the monster. Allowing this to happen means that the player will practically always be enjoying the game, other then the 20 seconds-or-so loading for the new match.

Prior to finding this game, I didn’t know the creator - I’ve never even heard of him. His name is Tinarg. The case of this game reminds me much of “One Finger Death Punch” - where the developers have a bad development history but end up with a masterpiece. Like the developers of One Finger Death Punch, tinarg’s development catalog before this consisted of “Destroy Stuff!” and “Build a Water Vehicle!” After speaking with him about the game for awhile, I quickly realized that he was a serious developer, and incredibly interested in the community of his game. He is the only person working on the game at this moment, however he did mention that in the very beginning, he did get some help.

At the time of posting, there are only seven maps in the game, but he plans on adding more as time goes on. Each of these maps are destructible, causing the experience as the monster even more satisfying. On top of adding more maps for people to plan on, tinarg also says he plans on adding a “Monster Attribute System”. This is some sort of a random perk system that he wants to have, so playing as the monster is even cooler. Some of the ideas he plans on working with include “spitting ice” and “faster walkspeeds”.

The atmosphere of the game is also very, very arcade-y, something that works relatively well in Roblox. Between the diverse color scheme in each map to the whimsical music, it’s just an enjoyable thing to play. One of the small features I really enjoyed was the closer the monster got to you, the faster the music got, something that added an odd amount of tension.

tl;dr : fun game, check it out

I only got into the lobby, and the little ball thing spawns so many different things when touched. Interesting.

I was going to post a topic about this game too!!!
I made a batman head

Probably the most fun I’ve had on Roblox in a really long time.

It’s pretty polished too.

What a fun concept

I can only suggest a timer for people in the lobby so they know when the round is going to be over (when watching people build the different parts)

I call this, Topy The Green Top-Hatted Clown.

I know he is a leg.
His nose is the knee.

It’s a good idea and a pretty fun game, but people keep just spamming so much smoke/fire into their ‘creation’ that you can’t see anything and start to freeze.

Only issues I have with it;

  • the whole fire and smoke thing, which makes it really hard to see as the monster.
  • There seems to be no incentive to save the other people who were captured
  • I was crushed under a house, and got stuck. The monster couldn’t get to me because of the brick in the way, so there is no way for it to win when stuff like this happens

Other than that, seems pretty cool

Been playing this more.

Really OP hiding spot. Monster can’t reach it.

Also I think it should be a bit easier to free people from the jail? Or maybe something to tell people the jail is opened? So many times I’ll open the jail and the players don’t realize it’s opened. I think a lot of people don’t bother saving the others because they won’t get anything in return, and the player probably wont realize they’re free. If you have to stand on a button for 5 long seconds, players should be teleported out or something?

Looks cool and nice concept, but I personally find it boring. Neat though!

Agreed. I despise building outside studio.
