People are Mass reporting FREE ITEM games and preventing users from obtaining in-experience items.
I understand it is ROBLOX’s duty to take care of what people upload on roblox and what’s being told to play. However It’s unfair that people can just mass report a game and ruin the experience for everybody. There should be a prevention for this.
I just released a free limited item for a game I worked on, with my friends, and the game got UNDER REVIEW cause of mass reports. People Shouldn’t be allowed to mass report games! This is link to the game:
I feel like the reporting system is very bugged right now, and definitely needs some improvement like mass report detection, because this is really dangerous for a lot of roblox UGC creators looking to release free limiteds.
People shouldn’t be allowed to mass report and just close games, this is very concerning.
Roblox taking action and fixing mass report issues would be beneficial for so many more things as well, not just in-experience UGC, though that is the main “target” at the moment. Let’s just hope Roblox realises this problem soon
I made a free limited as a prize for people that own an item, and It got mass reported AGAIN! My friend got no warning on what’s the issue with the game, just 2 messages stating the same message. Please Roblox FIX THIS!
This is very undescriptive, how could Roblox solve this? They cannot simply allow any experience with a free item to bypass the mass-reporting checks because that would allow bad actors to abuse such system and ensure their malicious experience stays up for longer until a moderator finally gets time to do a thorough review. In an ideal world, yes, mass reporting perfectly legitimate games should cause no issues to the innocent experience however the unfortunate reality is that there is no way for Roblox to determine whether your game is actually violative or simply getting reported due to an angry player-base.
How is this “dangerous”? From the looks of your screenshot, no account moderation action was taken and while yes, your game was taken down and that may be harmful to your experience’s revenue until it is restored; it is certainly not “dangerous” to you?
The account was moderated for it, I just didn’t take a screenshot of it. My other friend whose game was closed because of mass reporting got banned for a day, and roblox moderation didn’t take any action to remove their moderation off the account. So if you have an account that you devex from and develop on that game, yes it is dangerous as it can prevent future developer exchanges. If the mass reports would actually be looked into before closing the game and banning the users, this wouldn’t be a problem, or at least if the users weren’t banned from mass reports until a human checked the report. This also can hurt the developers, if they have a twitter account, or community server on discord/guilded, because the people who want the free items, will be unable to get them and they will start to threaten the developers of the game or the ugc creator that published the item, which is totally unfair. The fact that a group of people can just close down games at the press of a button should be more than just concerning. I agree there might be bad actors trying to create games that “ban your account” or “show inappropriate content” and those should be closed as soon as possible, but again, the moderation on games needs to improve and be able to take those games down before they are being already populated. There’s no reason why well behaved users should suffer because of the bad ones.
As for being “undescriptive”, there’s literally nothing to describe about mass reports. This is an occurring issue on roblox with groups of people that purposely report an individual, or one of their items/assets just to get their banned, which sometimes ends up being successful, and without the individual’s appeal, roblox won’t do anything to remove the unfair moderation taken against them.
Here’s a few of my ideas for solving:
The way roblox could solve this, is not ban/take action against owners of mass reported games, until there’s a human reviewing the reports and the game. This would take more time, but closing only the game instead of straight up applying moderation over the user, would prevent developers getting unfair bans, because somebody wasn’t able to claim 1 of the copies of the free item.
They could also add a warning onto the game’s page that the game might be malicious and it’s not recommended playing, so people wouldn’t be straight up kicked and complain about not being able to get an item because the game was closed.
And, at last, roblox could make it so new created games, or games created on accounts newer than a week, can’t have free limited items inside of them.
With this said, I still stand my point and hope roblox can fix the way reports work, because right now, false mass reporting seems to be working better than legitimate reports of bad actors.
That wouldn’t be necessary in my opinion as it’s not the item being banned, it’s the game where the item is claimed in. Also removing the report abuse button’s purpose for an asset would do more bad than good. the best they could do is having more checks before actually taking action if the particular game is linked to an item, and issue no moderation on the users/devs of the game until it’s decided that the game is breaking the rules because people can get falsely moderated from mass reports, just because some players are unable to read the instructions on how to obtain the item, or too lazy to read them and they just think the item is “deserved to them” and they don’t need to do anything.
First of all, this is the wrong category. It should be in #feature-requests somewhere.
Second of all, this is a problem with the community and not Roblox. The community clearly doesn’t want free limited games, so why put them into production? I really am confused as to why someone would do something like this other than the fact that they probably dislike free limited items.
Roblox has a lack of Human Resources. They cannot simply fix this problem. The current moderation system, in its current state, is good enough. It’s much like the moderation system on Discourse, where it will automatically hide a post if there’s enough reports. Again, if the community is false flagging your experience, that means the community does not like the content and is suggesting you to not make more in the future.
However, Roblox could make the report function less accessible by restricting the experience report button to accounts that have an account age of about a year, or they could limit the amount of reports each account can make.
Even if Roblox implemented some sort of reporting cooldown, if people are desperate enough, they could create a shit ton of alternate accounts and report you from there, eventually getting you banned.
One of my free items had 200 unclaimed copies. It was originally awarded to people who tried to claim a free item in one of my games, and purchased a pass to help them find the item quicker, but couldn’t get the prize, and out of 500 copies, only 300 got claimed. Today I decided to let my group members claim all unclaimed copies, but I get prompted with this, on the account that holds the game:
I don’t understand what the purpose of this ban even is… How am I misusing roblox sytems? Was I supposed to just let 200 copies of that item remain unclaimed? Pretty sure some people outside my group reported this game and got it deleted. I really hope moderation for games improves and I really hope this wont happen anymore…
