Material texture stretches dramatically on MacOS

Apparently, the recent Roblox engine update created a massive stretching material bug. This is on a MacOS. It’s a graphical bug.

it looks like its not updating the resolution ?

This is happening for me too I have a Mac and this happens but it also disappears and flashes how about you?

On my screen, I see them in bad resolution. There were no indication of flashing.

Do you have access to Liberty County? Cause their trees seem to flash Video below.

@mrfergie had this to say about the trees if this helps, and I quote.

“The tree leaves are a single mesh with a texture and some transparent value between 0-1.”

A friend of mine is having this issue. Everything looks like smooth plastic. We are on the same team create, and I see everything normally, so it is 100% a visual bug.

This issue started right after the update, and does not seem to affect anyone else in the team. This happens both in studio, and in the game.

Reinstalling roblox and restarting the computer did not resolve the issue.

Specs

If this issue isn’t already fixed I’ll check it out when I get home and see if this is occurring on Windows. It sounds like this might be Mac specific though.

The only thing I’d recommend trying is resizing an effected part and see if that makes a difference. If it does that would suggest just incorrect texture scaling on the part itself. (Excluding the smooth plastic materials being pulled I suppose)

Additionally try setting Reflectance to 1.0 and see if the parts reflect or not. Smooth plastic should reflect however other materials shouldn’t. If they reflect that probably means the texture data in the Roblox folder is incorrect.

These no ordinary textures, in fact, they are defaults by Roblox. The stretching seems to be incorrectly made on each surface, I presume they have swapped all the faces’ ratios.

Attempting to reinstall the client didn’t work.

This seems to be a Mac-only issue. I talked to some people, and the only person that runs studio on a Mac, is experiencing it.

I experience it in-game.

Update

I ran a test in Studio and the faces affected are resolution-wise. This has to do with the latest Roblox client update. Some faces are stretched beyond recognition, others being static or glitched.

The Mac user also experiences it in-game. And as you mentioned, a reinstall does not fix anything.

This is not happening for me, I am on MacOS Catalina.

If you’re affected by this update, please post a screenshot with rendering stats (Cmd+Shift+F2 panel) displayed, and specify your OSX version and GPU model.

I can confirm this issue is not happening on macOS Sierra and Catalina.

This must be an issue of software within Mojave, though this is indeed strange that Catalina isn’t affected, as both Mojave and Catalina are quite heavy. It must be something either with textures, so try checking graphics card of the content in Roblox Studio.

We got a repro in the lab. It looks like a bug in Apple drivers that only affects more recent Intel GPUs and only on Metal, probably only 10.14 as well. We’re looking at how to best fix this.

Getting a few reports on my game as well. I cannot repro it myself as I don’t have access to a mac.

How it should look:

I can try and get more info from users reporting this if needed. Thanks

Yeah I pointed that out above, if you could tell us how the trees operate the maybe could help when it comes to the texture or decal flashing.

The same thing happens to me.

(Transparency is turned down to 0 so you can see better)

I can try getting a pic of the trees, the thing is that it glitches per mil second tbh so it isn’t easy.
