Hi, I have seen a few topics on this matter however none of which give any clear answer if it is possible to control the transition between materials?
At the bottom I have two screenshots that does show that the engine does this already, but I cant seem to find any way to control this manually.
Some materials need some blending/smear/diffusion when transitioning between different materials to look and feel natural. While with others it is wanted to have a sharp transition, In my humble opinion I think that the current transition is perhaps a bit to sharp and would overall look and feel better if had it been a bit more gradual, but this is a matter of taste and highly dependent on use by use cases.
If we cant control this I would like to propose two different suggestions.
- A: Giving each material a new property that defines blend/smear/diffusion ratio to neighboring materials of different type.
- B: Seeing we can write voxel “material” and “occupancy” giving it a third property where we can control each voxel how much it should blend with its neighboring voxel, this I think would give us the perfect control of material blending/diffusion/transition and we could express transitions differently in different areas / use cases.
I would ask this in feature request but I cant post there so I will just stick it here and hope others see the benefit from this topic and pushes it up the chain of command.
