MaterialService Use2022Materials

In MaterialService there is checkmark that defines what materials textures to use in game (I mean this thing):
material
So im interested to know, are materials with with this checkmark enabled more laggy than without it being enabled or vice versa? Does it even matter in terms of lag?

I am 99% sure it does not cause lag. Number of meshparts nearby at once is the only lag source at the rendering level that I have run into while developing, and that only happens when playing on my android phone. Not on laptop.

They don’t really have a noticeable impact on performance, they just don’t really look good for most builds. They are wildly inconsistent from each other, and don’t scale nicely on a stud grid.
