Beta access is a way for Roblox to test upcoming features by using a select few of the community. There are definitely other features and more to come being tested.
One such is the packages in studio and some roblox page changes. Just because you may not notice or use these features does not denote it’s presence.
most likely no, it relies on whether if a server could handle that many players meaning if 200 players was to be released out to the public, beta won’t have anything new regarding the player count
100 slots won’t mean anything if It can’t handle players like 50 slots can. Has the server hardware been improved aswell? Or is it just a raise in the cap?
I’ve been noticing over the past few months that servers themselves have been improving. A year ago it was impossible to go about 140ish players in an empty baseplate before crashing the server. A few weeks ago I hit a full 200 player server in a live game with minimal (18 sec.) average ping considering the circumstances. An 18 second avg. ping is REALLY bad, but considering I’ve never been able to get anywhere near 200 players in a server without it completely crashing before is awesome.
now, granted, game optimization should still be a priority for developers. Roblox can only optimize their servers so much. Clean up your code. Clean up your builds.
Us “Beta program members” get access to ALL beta releases such as packages and 200 player servers, website changes etc before anyone else if this clarifies it.
Yeah actually this is very helpful to finally have good enough servers to run 100 play servers. Now I can’t wait for 200 because i’d like the add some spectating features to my game! It would be cool to see a feature to watch players from the lobby.
I remember when we had less then 30 player servers. This is a great update that should really open those larger game ideas for newer developers. Something that really can make a developer think “Well if I make this game a 100 people… what would it look like?” and be inspired to create bigger games for more players.
