Melee-fighting game ideas?

Greetings,
A few months ago, I created a melee weapon system and have made various weapons using the same system with unique animations and attack rates/damages/etc…

I would like to be able to create a game based on this system but I can’t decide what I should do with it. My original idea was a fast-paced game with simple parkour mechanics (double jump, dash/roll, wall climbing) as well as a few other tools to spice up the gameplay like explosives, and maybe some form of ranged weapon. However, I feel like this is an unoriginal and boring idea, so I thought about making a much slower paced game where players create clans, craft weapons and build structures from materials that they can scavenge. I have, in the past, modeled pickaxes and axes using blender, so I already have a start for that, but my concern with this idea is that it wouldn’t be fun with a small amount of players, and it may potentially be out of my skill area. I keep going back and forth between these ideas and can’t seem to choose which I want to make more, so I would like to hear from the community. If you have some ideas of your own, please let me hear them!
Thanks, toe_s

You could try recruiting people and organize events or game nights.

What you’ve described feels like Trove, which contains almost all of these features you mentioned, but depends on the style you want to accomplish.
If we could see your pickaxe or one of your examples, that’d be nice :)!

I could, but I think my goal is to be able to sponsor/advertise the game and gather enough players, and at launch it could be rough for games that require a larger player count.

This is pretty much it, the pickaxes and axes are in my inventory but I doubt you can see them so I’ll put them on the baseplate. Also, I need to re-animate some tools, so keep that in mind. (like the battle axe because you wouldn’t use one hand to swing that lol.)

Thanks for the reply,
That could be a good idea, however I am looking for a balanced fight, lol. I guess it could be kind of like “juggernaut” game modes where one player is selected and they get lots of health and good weapons to fight most other people who have to work together to defeat him. I’ll take it into consideration!

I took a look at the tools. First of all, I do like the fact you beveled them to partially low-poly.
However, you could definitely low-poly these more, like… take a look at Fishing Simulator, and inspire yourself from their equipment. Their animations are great as well!

Beside that, I noticed the graveyard next to it. I love its amazing design, you’d definitely convince me to play your game regularly. You do have potential, and I do understand your consideration regarding the game idea / plot.
