Actually, though, it’s fairly simple. Whenever a mesh is added to the game, a server script fetches the actual mesh data from the Roblox site using a custom web service.
Then, when the player mouses over a part that contains a mesh, it gets the mesh data from the server, and then uses fancy math (CFrames and dot products galore) to figure out which triangle, if any, the mouse is hitting.
Lastly, it renders the triangle, by means of 3D-to-2D projection and a function I wrote to draw 2D lines using rotated 1-pixel-wide frames.

Yeah, it tends to be rather glitchy.
Master, all I can suggest is leaving and re-entering.
