Mesh orientation affects mesh brightness

I’m relatively new to creating meshes / using blender, and I’ve made a plane mesh. My issue with it is that changing the orientation causes the color of the plane to shift in brightness. I have no idea if this is something unfixable, or something on my side.

I also tried looking for solutions before posting this, but I couldn’t find anything. Might just be because I don’t know the correct search terms.
