I’m looking to build a large driving/roleplay game based somewhere in canada. I’m debating if I should us meshes for the majority of the roads maybe all under one ID. Then landscape mostly a mix between the terrain tool and meshes or parts. I was wondering would meshes be better for performance on low end devices even if its a little longer load time? All my vehicles are under 7k tris.

That sounds great! Meshes would have much better performance. Using the terrain tools for the landscaping should be fine, and mesh roads will definitely help out. Everything else you described seems like it won’t impact performance much at all, so you’ve got a good plan :]
