Middle-Eastern/Aladdin Build

Recently I built this middle-eastern building using a reference photo from the live action version of Aladdin.

The plants are free-models but everything else was created by myself.
This build took me about 2.5 hours:

  • Try detailing, add more decoration under the covers and expand on adding to the roof.
  • Try detailing inside too, but it depends on you too.

The building is cool and the plastic low-poly is nice. I recommend ditching the intense mesh/texture trees and foliage for low poly trees and grass.

The trees and foliage are free models I added on for effect. Why low-poly though? I feel like it wouldn’t entirely fit the build. Maybe the same meshes but simpler textures?
@xStarfully
I totally agree with decoration under the covers. Maybe some pots, jars, and other items to sell?
What do you mean expand on adding to the roof? I tried to keep the details inside very simple. I have bed rolls, sandals, a couple rugs, some pots (as seen on the roof), and a low sitting table.

I would recommend adding a texture to a majority of the building unless you’re going for a simpler, almost “low poly” type of feel.

Where would I find textures? Are there any free websites you would recommend?

Well, for one, you could try applying ROBLOX materials such as concrete. But, if you wish to use external textures, I suggest making your own or at the very least making sure you’re allowed to use the specific textures you select.

This reminds me very much of Al Kharid from runescape

Looks nice, do you plan on making some sort of Aladdin game/showcase or did you do this just for fun?

I think granted the pastel color scheme and the plastic texture, you should just use non-textured foliage, but maintain the same shape. A dark green, high-detail leave like on the top of the building contrasts vividly with the nice building style.

Just for fun :upside_down_face: I’ve never built that style before and there is something about the simple box shape that captures me. I also enjoyed Aladdin as a kid (still do) and I’ve always wanted to get chased by guards over rooftops :joy:

It does look a lot like that…I might use that as a reference if I continue to make more of those builds.

Use texturing to give more depth to the structure, also there is clear lack of distinction between the walls and the floor, slightly lower the brightness of the floor to seperate those. Some kind of windows near the front or the sides would also make it look alot better.

Looks very good! The only thing that are a bit off are the trees, since the building looks “low-polish”, the realism of the trees makes the scenario look a bit confusing. But overall, great job!

It looks great, it just looks a bit flat. Try adding some cracks in the walls, or more windows. Also rounding the edges on the roof would look good. The trees also conflict a little to much in my opinion. It’s a really low poly house, and you have realistic trees. I would look into replacing those. Use references!

@danopro3 and @Jaudr3y Thank you for your feedback.
I’m working on creating some low-poly palm trees and ferns in Blender. I’ve also been experimenting with different materials in Studio.

Nice build!

A few things you could improve;

  • Add Textures/Design to the building

  • Add more on the inside of the build

  • You could add more windows as well as bigger ones

  • Make your own trees; make the trees match with the building
