Midgard hiring motivated, medieval-style developers

Note: This is a updated hiring post of a post that I made during the start of the project.

About Me

Hello, and thank you for taking your time to check out this post.

My name on roblox is rokedev, but my real name is Mustafa. You can call me either, doesn’t really matter to me.

I’ve always had a love for the medieval world, playing in the Game of Thrones genre for about 3 years before I got into scripting.

I’ve been scripting for about 10 months now, and I would say I’m pretty good at it.

Midgard is a game that has been long in the works for me, under different names. Earliest drafts started in November 2017, but nothing that was even considerable to be development until June 2018. After some problems with the team that I had in June 2018, I decided to take some time to learn scripting myself. Since then, I’ve always wanted to go back to working on it but never thought I was good enough. This was up until 3 weeks ago, when I got the first members of my team to start development on it.

I’m proud to comfortably say that we’re on track to release a demo before mid-June 2019.

Team

Main Positions (Needed ASAP)

@rokedev - Founder, Lead Programmer
@Bammit - Lead Front-end Developer
@xJayMB - Lead Asset Designer
Vacant - Lead Terrain Designer
Vacant - GFX Designer
Vacant - Lead Animator (Animations will be needed in bulk as more weapons are introduced)

Secondary Positions (Still needed, just not as urgently)

Vacant - Secondary Programmer
Vacant - Builder
Vacant - Secondary Terrain Designer(s)
Vacant - Secondary Animators
Vacant - Secondary Asset Designers
Vacant - Sound Manager

We have an outdated update log, because the next update is going to be large, with major components to the demo being released such as the inventory and demo map.

About The Job

For this team I’m looking for a very specific type of person, to create a work environment that I believe would be most productive for everyone to make sure what needs to be done, gets done.

I’m looking for people who want to make a great game and immersive experience for players. I cannot stress this enough, MONEY IS NOT A PRIORITY. Monetization will not be implemented until there is something to implement it with, such as customizable weapons for customizable clans. If you want to make money from the game immediately, please save yourself and me some time by not contacting me.

The game is in a medieval/nordic style, inspiration taken from Game of Thrones, skyrim, conan exiles, and just general medieval style games/media.

Payment

Besides what is stated above, I believe every developer should be paid decided on how much work they do. If you are on the team and struggle to meet the weekly goals, don’t expect a large cut when there is monetization.

You should be a bit more clear on your budget. This way people who join this know what to expect when it comes to payment.

I tried to be as clear as possible, but I’ll attempt to be more clear here.

Let’s say the game makes 100,000 robux in month A.
Additionally, lets say it makes 200,000 robux in month B.

If developer C worked their hardest during month A, they will get paid (for example) 40%. This would be 40,000 robux.

If developer C took a vacation during month B and decided not to work, they may only get 5% which would be 10,000 robux.

Then you should add percentages for each role if thats what they are getting paid by.

As I have stated twice now, there is no static payment, so there is nothing to add for percentages.

In my last post I explained that you are paid based on how much work you do and how much involvement you show in the project, not based on being in the development team.

Oh. My fault for not understanding

No problem! I could see where the misconception came from originally. If you have any more questions, I’m happy to answer!

Can someone tell me what a “Loremaster” is?

I would speculate its the person who makes the story/lore

As stated by ancant, it is someone who helps write the lore that would be a outline for the quests in the game and allow for a well-flowing storyline with easter eggs that players can find to find out details to an over-arching story.

How would someone apply for the story master position? I mean, how can you prove that you’re a good story teller/maker?

You would be given a scenario, and you would be given 24 hours to write a story based on that scenario. Then me and the rest of the developers would judge the quality of the story in many aspects, including detail, flow, etc.

I’d love to apply for that position actually. It seems interesting

Midgard is still actively looking for developers.

We have just released our latest update v0.0.8. This update has further information on the discord, but it focuses on developing previously basic fields into being a core concept of the game to have an actual expandable future.

If you’re interested in hearing more or helping on this project, contact me here on the devforum or on discord.

Hello I just got excepted to the fourm and would love to help as a builder

Contact me on discord and show me some of your work :slight_smile:

Ok I am on a phone without discord so can we talk tomorrow

It’s confuses me when people put “head” or “lead” in front of everything when in reality… there’s only one person doing it. Experienced developers notice this and are immediately resistant to reply. Don’t use titles to bait them in. Just some advice.
